my project is suddenly very slow & crashes often

Hi

does anybody know how many big files Movie Edit Pro can take?

I've put in many pictures, which each have the size between 10 - 20 MB, and since then my project has become very slow and crashes often. I've checked to see if my hard drives are full, but this is not the case.

i'm using MAGIX Movie Edit Pro Premium\2021\videodeluxe on my pc:

Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-2120 CPU @ 3.30GHz   3.30 GHz

64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

Thanks everyone :-)

Kate

Hi Kate.

That is a very old system to be running MEP 2021 on with anything but the simplest projects on. The processor is now 10 years old. Even if it has an Intel GPU it can't be used as it does not support Direct X 11.

I felt forced to upgrade my system which was similar to yours when I was running MEP 2018. It was running but far from running well. It would crash when it overheated. I suspect your CPU is getting too hot under the work load. I assume you are running Windows 8.1.

Ray.

One other thing to check is to make sure that none of your disks have developed bad blocks.

These will show up in the Windows system event viewer: Start > Run > eventvwr.msc

You can also check their overall health by using CrystalDiskinfo

Hey Promidi,

i never heard of the event viewer. I saw lots of errors in mine. I will look into it more, to see how to delete them. And i will also look into CrystalDiskinfo.

Thanks :-)

Hi Kate.

A lot of errors often means the drive is close to the end of its effective life. Be careful.

Hi

. . . . thinking of upgrading my system . . . .

PC or laptop?

Either way look at my signature for the sort of specs you need to be looking at. An Intel processor with UHD 630 graphics and the RTX 2060, work in tandem (hybrid mode on the laptop) for best performance.
