Hi,

Yes, they should be fine in MEP 2014.

But as you already have the new version, why not install it now and try it for yourself?

Thanks Terry. I just didn't want to install before finding out what the situation was and if there was any need to do any different sort of back up.

Hi,

Further to Terry's reply, installing a new version of MEP does not affect the previous version. Keep version 17 on your computer until you are satisfied that your old projects work with the new version.

Also if you check through the Discussions in the MEP forum and the Questions, you will find information about some features (effects mostly) in 17 that may have disappeared and how to carry them over to the new version.

Hi,

I agree with both Terry and browj2.  Really no reason to uninstall the previous version unless you are running very tight on disc space and even then there are many other apps that probably came installed on your computer that you never use that could help recover disc space to make sure you have access to the ones that you actually use.

Thank you, Terry, Browj2 and gandjcarr. I was only worried that if MEP 2014 is a new programme and not an upgrade, then installing MEP 2014 might automatically wipe some of the files of version 17...making some of my previous projects consequently unplayable....no backwards compatibility and all that. I am assuming both versions (even if they become a sort of "hybrid" version) will stay on in order to play all projects, new and old. Cheers. Louis

If you install the new version, then it will install to a completely different directory structure. Your projects and personal data will not be affected.

We do not guarantee compatibility, however, most of the times there are no problems whatsoever. However, if you have the space, I would recommend to keep the older version just in case.

If you have saved your projects in the old default project folder, then remember to navigate to the Documents - MAGIX - Movie Edit Pro 17 folder so you can load them again.
