NewBlue Drop Shadow

I've been trying to follow the "Drop Shadow Crashes.." thread, but I don't see any related answers. My program does not crash, but the FX does nothing. Does anybody know if you can use this application to add a drop shadow to a PIP overlay? Or is this used for text only? I've been using a workaround; by placing a black box in back of the photo (letting the bottom and right edges peak out a little), then applying an Artistic Blur to this. Works pretty good...but I'm just wondering if there is an easier way (especially if I want to work with multiple overlays). Thanks in advance.

There is a known issue with some of the NB OFX efects crashing and/or not displaying correctly.

The NB Drop Shadow, the old version only works with text for me and the v4 OFX version does not work at all and crashes the MEP if GPU acceleration is turned on.

Your workaround is my preferred method of adding a drop shadow it takes less processing power than the NB effect when rendering.

Thank you. I'll stick with my method for now. Once I group the object with the shadow box, I can work my screen pretty easily.

As a follow up, I discovered that the NewBlue Elements FX picture-in-picture and picture-in-shape do have drop shadow settings. A little tricky to get it to look exactly as you (I) like, but that was a nice find. Thanks again.
