NewBlueFX Filters 5 ultimate will not install

Kris-Roberson wrote on 2/4/2021, 10:43 AM

I purchased the upgrade for MEP2021 including the Filters 5 ultimate. When installing the effect through MEP, I select the icon under "Extra Effects" and then select, "Download". The download completes and then goes to the setup dialog. During installation I get an error message that "OpenFX Video editor" is blocking the installation of some files. The dialog requests that I close OpenFx and select, "retry".

I have used task manager, services, and a general search of my system. I am unable to locate "OpenFX video editor" in order to shut it down.

How do I shut it down to finish the install?

Hi

. . . . an error message that "OpenFX Video editor" is blocking the installation of some files . . . .

Try closing MEP 2021 at that point.

Hi,

Thanks for the advice.

I restarted the computer to ensure that there were no other editing programs open. Then opened MEP and started the install as noted in my first post.

Closing MEP when the error appears does not close OpenFX (apparently) because the error message continues.

Still no indication of OpenFX running even when MEP is open.

Hi

Try running MEP as an Administrator, right click the program shortcut and select Run as Administrator and then installing, checking that there is no NewBlue dialog opening under the installer and MEP windows.

If that fails try running the installer on its own - it should be in the Magix Downloads folder or its subfolder InstallationsManager.

Running as an admin worked!

Thanks for your help.
