No Audio on MEP plus 2017

I have MEP plus 2017 installed on Windows 10 platform.  Like others in this forum, my MTS files will no longer play audio when a project is started.   I have tried to follow the info on the thread:  Magix suddenly doesn't let me hear any audio.

However, the technical jargon is too complicated for me.  My questions are:

1.  Will Magix provide a patch to solve this?

2.  If not, is buying a 2018 version of MEP an option for getting the audio files back.

3.  Can anyone explain in plain English what I need to do to fix my current MEP plus 2017 problem? 

Sorry to be dense on this, but this seems an very complicated problem and all us MEP users are left without a

working program.  It does not get any more serious than that.   Thanks for your help.

Hi Jeff,

Magix instructions were to: Download and run the fix from the following URL:

When I downloaded the only options I got was to open or save the file not run.  I chose to

open.

When I try to open the DD_Win10fix file, I get the following error message:

"No relevant product could be successfully located and patched on this system."

This message was received after I had bypassed both Norton and Windows Defender Anti
Virus programs, which said the file was no good.  

Still no audio.  Any suggestions on where we go from here?

Hi Gerald.

What happens if you choose to save the file somewhere on your computer, the desktop is fine for this purpose, and then double-click on it to run/open it?

  1. the full program name and version number as found under Help, About . . . . ?
     
  2. Is your MEP bought through Steam?
     
  3. the Windows version on your computer - press and hold down the Windows key and the R key - in the dialog that opens type in winver and press enter.

If you have continued paying the annual subscription you should have been updated to MEP 2018.

Jeff,

I have Windows 10 home edition.  When I save the fix, it saves to the downloads folder in Windows.

When I double click on the file I get this box:

Windows Defender SmartScreen prevented an unrecognized app
from starting. Running this app might put your PC at risk.

There is a More Info selection on this screen, when selected this message pops up:

App:   DD_Win10_fix.exe    Unknown publisher

There is a Run Anyway  button and when selected, NOTHING HAPPENS.  The file

does not run.  That is where I am stuck.

TO DOVETAIL TO JOHN'S QUESTIONS ABOVE:

1. full program name and version number:  Movie edit pro plus Version 16.0.1.22 (UDP3)

2.  Is your MEP bought through Steam:  No, bought direct from Magix

3. the Windows version on your computer:  Windows 10 home edition version 1803

4.  is buying a 2018 version of MEP an option for getting the audio files back . . . . .

Answer:  no annual subscription, only paid the original charge for the program.

Thank you so much Jeff and John for your responses.  Any suggestions on where we go

from here to get my audio functions working?
