Objects not appearing in Story Board

grahamm7 wrote on 7/24/2020, 11:10 AM

As a newcomer to MEP I have been watching the tutorials by J C Brown (v. good). So I thought I would practicing adding objects to the StoryBoard. So I selected and object in the Media Pool Window and selected the import down arrow but it didn't appear in the Story Board window. Yet it appeared on timeline. In the video tutorial as you select objects from the Media Pool and import them they appear in the Story Board as objects in distinct iconic appearance. Maybe there is some control I haven't selectd. But importing objects from the media pool to the Story Board doesn't seem to work as I expect aka the Tutorial.

I wasn't in StoryBoard mode - oops. But in Story Board mode when I import video image or create a title they are shown in Story Board. And are there on appropriate default timeline tracks. However if I import a music object say in MP3 (some background music) that is not shown on Story Board but appears on default track 5 if free. Maybe story board cannot show music objects and only handles video type objects. Hadn't spotted that in the Tutoral video.

Hi Graham.

That is odd. You should get the view and be able to either drag and drop a file into place or use the download arrow regardless of the view chosen.

Varying views of the Editor.

Importing a file into the storyboard view.

Hi Graham,

Storyboard mode is a simplistic mode that is useful for people who don't want to do much editing. Only objects on track 1 will show up.

Do not use Storyboard for things like adding in audio files. In fact, don't use Storyboard unless you just want to import a bunch of photos or video clips and rearrange them. That is easy. Beyond that, use the timeline.
