Out of sync film/audio

I have been using Magix Movie Edit Pro 17 Plus HD for some years now and have never been happy with the DVD burn as the quality is not HD. The quality is better as a rendered data file but the picture and sound are out of sync. I have found that after appx 15mins the sync issue commences. I downloaded a free trial of 'Adobe Elements' to see if it rendered out of sync there too - it doesnt run out of sync. It does the job perfectly with a better quality picture and in full sync. So what gives??? I see lots of similar sync issues from many users and variations of Magix software - why cant Magix resolve this problem within their own software instead of customers having to purchase another manufacturers program to be able to play films without poor quality or sync issues?

Im using Windows 7 with core i7 and 12GB RAM and decent graphics card.

Hi, welcome to the forums.

First, are you using MEP 17, or MEP 2017? My guess, from the mention of "HD" in the title is the former. (If you go to Help>About, you will be able to tell us exactly which version.) MEP 17 is rather old now, a more "modern" version might well help to alleviate the problems you are experiencing.

Second, you say you
have never been happy with the DVD burn as the quality is not HD
but a DVD can never be High Definition. The official specification for the DVD format is, for PAL, 720 x 576, i.e. Standard Definition. It is a common misconception that a standard DVD is "HD". Only an AVCHD DVD, which requires a Blu-ray player to play it back, can give HD playback and it can contain a maximum of about 30 minutes playing time.

Third, the sync problem; if we are to be able to offer any assistance to you we need to know a great deal more information:

  1. What is the format of the files you are importing for editing?
  2. What export settings have you selected?
  3. You seem to imply in your post that the loss of sync occurs ONLY if you choose to render as a "data file". If so, what export settings are you choosing for this?

In any reply, don't forget to tell us exactly which version of MEP you have as well as answering the questions above. Thank you.
