Overwrite Shortcut for Sound Forge Pro

Tim-Lundeen wrote on 11/4/2020, 9:09 AM

Is there a shortcut for "Overwrite" in SFPro ? Ctrl-C (Copy), and Ctrl-V (Paste), but not a Ctrl-?? for (Overwrite)...

If there is, I'm having a hard time finding it. Feel like it's something I should know, or that is intuitive for some reason.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

Welcome to the Magix Sound Forge users community @Tim-Lundeen

I normally right-click an Overwrite selection to get the context menu.. (after copy of course).
There is no default shortcut for the 'Edit> Paste Special> Overwrite' command, however you can create a shortcut in "Options> Customize Keyboard". Select the Global tab, type 'Paste' in the search field and find the 'Paste Overwrite' entry. Select it and type your custom shortcut. If it is already being used for anther command, choose another or remove and change the default prior FWIW, I assign a single stroke 'Function' key for some frequent processes.. the F8 key for Edit> Repeat in my case.
I am not aware of a toolbar icon option for Overwrite.

Thanks!

The "Options > Customize Keyboard..." Global Tab, Paste Overwrite edit is the solution I was looking for. I've used the software for so long, but only recently seen the need for 'paste overwrite'. Consequently, I had forgotten how to find and edit the Keyboard. I was really surprised that the "Help" search function doesn't make it clear that a Paste Overwrite shortcut can be created. (Meaning, search results made it sound like Overwrite had no shortcut And could not have a shortcut. Now I know better.)

Thanks again!

If anyone is interested, I assigned Ctrl+~ as my Paste Overwrite keyboard shortcut. Which I can now assign to a mouse button, or a mouse gesture. Its just that much faster than right-clicking a drop-down menu.
