Phantom audio "track" or some audio remnant.

Seems much like the ghost sound issues I reported at various times years ago.

There were others, very similar to the ghost audio you describe, but I can no longer find them.

One fix you might try is to select the entire project, open a new movie tab, and paste in the copy. That might exorcise the ghost sound.

@CubeAce

Hi Ray

To clarify, I am trying to understand how the indicated control in the image shown below, posted here, means that proxy files are in use.

The indicated control, and its partner at the other end of the mid grey bar, allow for 'zooming' a section of the range bar under the Preview monitor, this is what I was referring to in my post above.

I too have had the occasional ghost file and @browj2 fix here worked every time.

Hi

I cannot replicate the issue you are having, with or without, proxy files or preview render files Ray @CubeAce has mentioned in his post above.

However, if you were using Preview Render files and the project file has been corrupted but still readable, MEP crashed or there has been a glitch, it is possible that the reference to the render file is still in the project file.

The preview render files are in a folder call PerfBounce located in:

  1. the project folder location specified in Programs settings, Folders tab, Projects

    or

  2. the folder where you saved the project

In both cases check that the folder is empty.

Added:

A couple of very long shots: select the images where the ghost audio plays then

  1. right click and select Audio functions, Video/audio on separate tracks (Ctrl + H ) to see if any hidden audio clip pops out.

  2. right click right click and select Audio functions, Remove audio object to see if it disappears

HTH

Hi John.

SUGAR! I pointed to the wrong part of the sign it was there.

Look under where I pointed in the image under the title 'China October 2019' next to the miniature lightning symbol. ( I got confused between taking the screen shot at the time I took took to the time I edited the image.)

There is just a sliver about the same size showing where a pre-render would show.

Typical me I suppose.
