Playback only starts from beginning, not from playback marker

I have Movie Edit Pro Premium 2021. Regardless of where I place the playback marker, playback keep starting from the beginning. It was working perfectly, but I did something, apparently, and now it's doing this. I don't know what I did and I don't know how to fix it. Thanks for any help!

If Ray’s suggestion doesn’t fix it then try clicking the ‘Optimise’ icon at bottom right of the screen, the icon with two arrows if I recall correctly.

It's happens to me also. If I exit the program and re-start it goes back to playing where the marker is

@CubeAce @archstenton @terrypin thanks for the suggestions. Before I got a reply, I hoped that if I closed and reopened it, as @archstenton suggested, it would be fine. And it was. @CubeAce that that solution would have been for a different issue, but thanks. @terrypin, if (when) it does it again I'll try the optimise icon. Thanks guys!

All my forum comments are based on or refer to my System 1.

My struggle is over! I built my (now) system 2 in 2011 when DV was king and MPEG 2 was just coming onto the scene and I needed a more powerful system to cope. Since then we've advanced to MP4 and to bigger and bigger resolutions. I was really suffering, not so much in editing (with proxies) but in encoding, which just took ages. A video, with Neat Video noise reduction applied, would encode at 12% of film speed. My new system 1 does the same job at 160% of film speed. Marvellous. I'm keeping my old system as a capture station for analogue video tapes and DV.
