When I try and run a MP4 from the timeline...i freezes on Preloading....have to start Task Manager to close the program. Tried reloading Magix many times....still no go....any help out there?
mp4 is a "container" format. IOW, it can involve the use of a number of different codecs, any one of which your computer may not have or MEP cannot use.
Please find, download and install the free MediaInfo utility, point it at your mp4 which MEP cannot play and post the results of the Text View here.
One other thought: your version of MEP is now rather "old". It is entirely possible that a recent Win 10 Update could have caused the problem.
And yes, there is help out there, but it would help us to help you if you would also read this post and supply ALL the details about your computer requested.
Here is he file data....it is from a helmet cam Sena 10C EVO that shoots in 4K. I will send my computer set up in a few min thx.

Notes: I upgraded to Movie Edit Pro 2014 Plus a few months back in order to edit 4K video. Only tried it this week.

I noticed that too....I download the programs directly from My Products .....it seems to be 32 bit....so do I need to go somewhere else to download 64 instead?
I had this problem as well for these video formats. If you download a program like Handbrake or some other free video converter, you can convert your native MP4 into a format like AVI or WMV or M4V or something else. One thing to watch out for when you do this is to make sure that the video & audio don't get out of sync. I've had this happen occasionally when I convert a video to another format.
. . . . ..it seems to be 32 bit....so do I need to go somewhere else to download 64 instead . . . .
There is no 64 bit version of MEP 2014, the first version to be offered in 64 bit was Movie Edit Pro 2015.
You also will need to upgrade MEP - I would suggest you get the latest version as Windows 10 may eventually 'knock out' older versions of MEP and for 4K you do need the new 'engine in MEP for better performance.
When upgrading your PC, for best performance you need an Intel quad core (or more cores) Intel processor with integrated GPU.
Using an AMD processor based PC does put some limitations on GPU usage - the program utilises the Intel iGPU for acceleration of some effects, it can use a Nvidia or AMD GPU as well if one is installed for some acceleration on preview.
For exporting the acceleration from a Nvidia or AMD GPU is limited to a few effects used in the movie eg Vegas Stabilisation, all other encoding acceleration is done in the Intel GPU/CPU.
If you are wanting to export as HEVC then MEP currently does not use a Nvidia or AMD GPU - MEP's 'big brother' Video Pro X does use a Nvidia GPU for HEVC export.
That's pretty much word for word from the press area of Magix. That only goes back to 2015 though.
It's a pity it is so difficult to get the running requirements from any internet sources of earlier versions. The specs I found are only found on a few sites.
They say nothing is ever lost on the net.
They obviously never tried looking for old Magix program system specs. 😆
