Pro X5 - AUDIO POPS - Random

Juan-Gonzalez wrote on 10/7/2020, 5:27 PM

I am getting random pops on Samplitude these days when using the ASIO driver for the Focusrite Scarlett Solo.
1. Yes - drivers are updated
2. Yes - I am seeing no ERRORS
3. Yes - This has been happening since I switched to X5 from X4
4. Yes - it is the 64bit version?
5. Yes - I have tried other drivers (like the Magix Low Latency Driver) - no problems with other devices

Please help...it's a drag having to switch my monitoring
Thanks!

Here is a comment by a user who speculated that his Focusrite Audio interface had problems because it was too old. So he switched to a different one and the problems went away. Which generation is your Focusrite Scarlett Solo?

Well...the interface does not have these problems when I am using it with Vegas Pro 8 or Cubase Pro 10.
It seems to be a Samplitude thing.

@Juan-Gonzalez

Hi

Did you try increasing the audio buffer sizes in the Focusrite interface ASIO settings?

Yes.

Like I said...this was not a problem in X4. This seems to be an X5 thing.

@Juan-Gonzalez

What is your computer specification? See this topic for details of what is required, it would also help in future if you put them in your signature.

Did you try disabling ASIO Boost or Multi CPU Support? It would also be nice to know which Generation your Scarlett Solo is. 1st? 2nd?

Juan-Gonzalez wrote on 10/9/2020, 11:27 AM

2nd Gen Scarlett
Still...why would this mean anything from NO Problems in X4 to this problem in X5?

SP. wrote on 10/9/2020, 12:02 PM

Changes on the underlying audio engine from X4 to X5, maybe?

Did you already try to disabling ASIO Boost or Multi CPU Support?

@Juan-Gonzalez

Hi

@SP. comment 'Changes on the underlying audio engine from X4 to X5, maybe?' - reminded me that the FocusRite Scarlett can be clicky/poppy depending on the USB port it is plugged into - it works better in a USB 2 port than if it is connected to a USB 3 port.

If your computer does not have any USB 2 ports try different USB 3 ports, preferably one that is not being shared with any other devices - this avoids the USB port switching modes.

Hmmm...I did both of those things and it seems to have tackled the issue. Before I consider this "solved," I am going to do some pushing on the processing and see if I can get the software to do it.

Thanks!
