Problem trying to change MEP 2015 Plus keyboard shortcut

Recycler wrote on 10/29/2014, 1:02 PM

Via the Keyboard menu manager (Ctrl+Shift+U) I am trying to alter the default keyboard shortcuts for moving to the next or previous object's edge:-

Changing Alt+W to Shift+RightCursorKey

and

                Alt+Q  to Shift+LeftCursorKey

I can successfully complete the procedure shown in the instructions (for example the words SHIFT + RIGHT appear in the white box after I've pressed the keys), but my chosen commands never appear in the righthand box afterwards - they just seem to be ignored, even after I have shut down and re-opened the program. I have a standard UK keyboard, Win 7 Home Prem 64 bit.

Am I trying something illegal, or stupid, or have I hit a tiny buggette?

Thanks for any advice.

Hi,

If MEP 2015 is similar to MEP 2014 in this respect, then it's probably because those KB shortcuts are already assigned:

Fast forward:     Shift + right arrow
Fast rewind:      Shift + left arrow

Hi

I change several of the keyboard shortcuts, you have to acknowledge replacement of the shortcut with the one you specified and then delete the previous existing shortcut after you assign a new one.

Then check that the item that had the shortcut combination you used is not still using it.  In your case, as Terry has pointed out, check that Fast forward and Fast rewind do not have the shortcut you have reassigned .

To close the loop on this question, thanks for the suggestions but it remains seemingly impossible to use remapped keyboard commands (in MVP 2015 Plus at least) involving the left/right cursor keys, I have reported it as a possible documentation failure or a program bug.

Hi

After more experimenting I have found that there are in fact many keyboard shortcuts which are 'hard wired' and cannot be changed.

Whether this is a bug or by design is difficult to call as there are many which can be changed..

It will be interesting to see what Magix say.
