Problem with exporting mp4 5.1 surround sound

I just updated to Movie Studio 2022 Platinium and now I am having problem when exporting my videos.

When I choose File -> Export movie -> Video as MPEG-4 and from there advanced button. There is the Audio (AAC) section where Stereo is selected and greyed so that I can't change it to 5.1 surround sound. Anyone know how to enable surround sound?

I just build this new computer with WIndows 11 and updated to this 2022 Movie studio from some older Magix Movie Edit Pro. I checked that surround sounds are coming from all my speakers, but it's still not working in this export menu.

Hi and welcome to the user to user forums.

Dolby surround encoding as been redacted from all new releases of most video editors as there is a dispute between Dolby Labs and originally Adobe but seems to have spread about not paying Dolby Labs what they consider to be the correct licence fees. So the only way to export 5.1 surround sound at present is to encode video using Windows encoding.

Older copies of the programs still have access to Dolby encoding if those programs had it.

What a shame that they removed that from the codec and they aren't even way to separately purchase the license and activate the codec if user needs it 😞

I don't like the coding slowness, picture quality vs file size and compability of the windows video format so I am not using that.
