Whilst using the programme and moving from Imports to say effects, I get a fatal message and unable to continue. I can get a error type log but that does not mean anything to me as I am purely a user. How do fix this ?
We, fellow-users, can possibly help you if you start by following these steps:
Please read this post and give ALL the details about your computer which are requested there.
Tell us exactly which version and variant (Basic, Plus or Premium) of Movie Edit Pro you have. The exact build number can be found under Help>About.
Tell us the exact format of the video files you are using. The free MediaInfo will tell us a lot about the file; post the results of the Text view here.
Give us, step by step, one series of actions which, for you, always results in the message you see. We can then reproduce those steps to see what happens for us.
Tell us the exact wording of the error message you receive. A screenshot of it would be ideal.
Yes, it is quite a lot to do but we cannot see your computer so, in order to help you, we need a lot of information!
. 1. Dell Core i5 421OU CPU @ 1.70 ghz. Ram 8 gb, 64 bit processor using Windows 8.1
2. Movie Edit Pro version 17.0.2 159 (UDP3)
3. Using jpg photos and mvi.mp4 videos
4. After using import function and going to effects function, the error message per screenshot comes up. Let me know if you want me to email you the screenshot as a file attachment.
5. Screenshot attached. Troubleshooting, a serious program error occured Error in module" Qt5GuiMx64Qt57.dll "
It appears to be a missing dynamic link library file but also your CPU is slightly under-powered. I don't know if the CPU is contributing to this error message or not but you can search on the net for the missing file. I would scan the file for viruses first once downloaded though before embedding it.
Is this a Dell Inspiron or Latitude laptop with no other graphics card/chipset installed?
Was the Movie Edit Pro (MEP) 2018 running OK before?
. . . . mvi.mp4 . . . .
Are these video files from a Canon EOS camera and is this the first time you have used them with MEP 2018?
. . . . It appears to be a missing dynamic link library file . . .
If this were so the error message would say 'missing dll'.
The error is an 'Access violation' which means the specified dll has tried to access memory which has not been reserved for MEP, eg the GPU reserved memory.
The i5 421OU processor has an HD4400 integrated GPU which is below spec for Hardware Acceleration - the HD4600 was the first integrated GPU which supported this.
In the program settings if the following settings are on (checked) turn them off:
Automatically create frame table during import
GPU acceleration for Transitions
then try doing what caused the crash again, also try it with a new project and the same files.
The System has been running succesfully for the last 3 years on the same computer
The video files are from a Canon GX 7 powershot Mk 2 or from a Canon Powershot G12
The '' Automatically create frame table during import " was off
I could not find anything about '' GPU accelerations for Transitions "
Would it help if I gave you the detail after the reference to dll. ? It is : ( load address : 0x00007FFE9D120000) to address : 0x00007FFE9D409953 ( Exception 0xc0000005 " Access_Violation " )
These numbers seem to change everytime I retry and I get another crash
What I failed to notice and John picked up on is it isn't a missing file but information that the instruction is not being carried out due to some problem within the machine. Looking up Exception 0xc0000005 " Access_Violation, gives a multiple of reasons for the failure, from lack of ram or damaged ram to a failing hard drive, or registry issue, faulty, corrupt drivers, virus infection, or incorrect security update, etc.
But if you really think it is not your processor or lack of physical ram (you need 4 GB minimum to process HD files) then check that all your computers drivers are up to date and do a PC health check to check your hard drive and state of your ram to see if some part of it is failing.
I have manage tried Reset Program to Defaults. This ended up in me relaoding all the software. It now seems to work ok. Thanks very much guys for all your help.
The only thing I can think of is if it only happens when using files from your Canon GX 7, as it is a much newer camera than your others and can produce files with much higher bit rates.
That could cause problems on an older system or program. I have had to upgrade my system and programs due to buying a new camera to cope with the newer files.
One way to test this theory would be to create a new project and only use files from the other cameras to see if the problem arises.
Then try a small project only using the Canon GX 7 files and see if it trips up.
You are now the second person to keep suffering this and the only thing you both seem to have is processors that fall below the minimum required clock speed to run MEP 2021 according to the minimum specs page.
On the other thread I advised the following .
Try setting Windows / Settings / System / Graphics settings / Graphics performance preference / Choose an app / Browse, to set preference and add MAGIX Video Deluxe Plus from Local Disc C: Program Files / MAGIX / Movie Edit Pro (whichever version you have) and add the videodeluxe.exe file . Then select Power Saving from the selected modes available.
Restart your PC with the new settings using the restart option in windows not shut down and then start separately.
Then see if MEP will run more smoothly and can then get to your effects section.
I think the specs on my computer are to low. The current processor runs at 1.7 Ghz and recommended specs are 2.8 GHZ. It is ok with 8 GB Ram and 64 bits. So I will have to upgrade my computer.
Do note that if you are working with 2.7K or higher resolution video - a new computer needs to exceed the minimum specs by a large margin.
As a minimum you must have an Intel 4 core cpu with UHD630 integrated GPU, you will note that the specs do not mention an AMD processor - the program is designed/optimised to work with an Intel GPU with integrated graphics, it will work with an AMD processor however there will be no hardware acceleration available for exporting, and, as MEP currently stands at this time, a Nvidia or AMD GPU will not be used for exporting.
As a minimum you should aim for 16GB of RAM minimum.
I work with 4K video and have very few issues with performance or exporting my computer - spec is in my Signature - note MEP only utilises the RTX 2060 for rendering the Vegas stabilisation effect on export, otherwise the UHD630 or CUP is used, for preview playback acceleration both GPUs may be used - additionally a monitor needs to be plugged in to the UHD video connector to activate it - I work with dual monitors and have one connected to the UHD630 and the other to the Nvidia.
If you are looking to a laptop then this opens another set of issues - see this comment
