@Steven-Vickers

Hi and welcome to the forum.

. . . . Every thing says file not found when I try to open them . . . .

What is the actual full message ? A screenshot of it would help.

Hi Steven.

Do you mean the update to version 20.0.1.79 in MEP 2021? Approximately 33MBs?

I can find no mention of what the update is yet but it seems to be running on my machine fine so far.

I have no project files missing. I have now opened four projects with no problems.

Can you point to the files manually? Do you import your files into projects or leave them where they are?

Do you use external drives? Do you use the same ports each time to connect? Have you ever used a USB hub?

Ray.

Sorry, as a casual user I'm not very good at finding the technical information. A window pops up when I try to open a take, or a project. This window is titled 'File not found' Then the C drive file name etc. Tabs are at the bottom of this window which say: Repeat, skip, skip all, folder, cancel. Everything was working great until I followed this latest Magix update today. I'm not using an external drive to import any files as they're on the hard drive. I do have an external drive for back up purposes only.

emmrecs wrote on 2/18/2021, 8:28 AM

@Steven-Vickers

On that on-screen message, you need to click on "Folder" and then navigate to exactly where the "missing" files are located on your hard drive. Once they are loaded correctly, resave the project (perhaps under a new name) and MEP will then know where to find them when you open the project the next time.

Thank you Jeff, I'll give that a try. What a mess though! As I said everything was working as it should before this update. I have noticed in 'my media' files in magix, that some of the files are red now and won't open and the green coloured ones generally do. Again, thank you to you and to the community for your assistance. I'll have a go at your suggestion. Steve.

Thanks Andy, I decided to uninstall & re-install the programme from my Magix disc. This seems to have resolved the issue. I am going to be cautious from now on about installing any updates as I don't want to have to go through that again. I'll probably just stick with my disc version as that works for me. Thanks again for offering assistance. Steve

Hello John, the disc version I have reinstalled is: Magix Movie Edit Pro Plus, Version 19.0.1.23 (UDP3)

johnebaker wrote on 2/19/2021, 8:02 AM

Hi Steven

Thanks for the info - you have that is also known as Movie Edit Pro 2020.

The last patch for this version was 19.0.1.31 - is this what you updated to or was it the latest version Movie Edit Pro 2021?

I suspect you may updated to Movie Edit Pro 2021, which, in effect, is a new install and would reset any folder paths you had modified in MEP 2020, however once it had the project file it should have found all the video/Takes/images/audio without issue. The only items it may not have found were effects features/resources.

Hi John, Thanks for taking the time to look into this issue. Unfortunately, I can't remember the latest patch number on the Magix update notification yesterday. I do recall updating to Movie Edit Pro 2021 in December and that was working fine too. However, the update notification I followed yesterday whatever number it was, caused this awful issue of not being able to load music files, takes or projects. As an average user with a fairly limited technical knowledge it took me several hours yesterday trying to resolve it. The reinstallation of my MEP 2020 seems to be working. So I think I'll just stick with that rather than have an issue like that again.

@Steven-Vickers

Hi Steve,

Since you had MEP2021 and updated yesterday, it was probably to patch 20.0.1.79 which has been a disaster and has been pulled by Magix. If your update service is still good, you should be able to safely upgrade back to 2021 and the latest patch, which should be 20.0.1.73.

I did not update yesterday and just opened MEP2021, still at 20.0.1.73. There is no patch offered as it had been removed by Magix. Magix will post a new one that should fix the issue. When they do, I suggest waiting (always) a day or two to see if there are any issues with a new patch. Check this forum first.

Hi John, that's very reassuring then, I'll follow your advice. That's a good idea to check the forum about any potential new patch issues too. You've been very helpful Thank you.
