PS Deluxe 2026 - PAINFULLY SLOW DOING ANYTHING

I just purchased Photostory deluxe 2026 Version 25.0.1.318.

It has to be the most unresponsive application I have ever used. Almost every interaction with the user interface leads to a delay of 5 to 10 seconds, sometimes longer. It is utterly unusable. At first, I suspected the OneDrive issue, but I have reinstalled to a custom location AND quit OneDrive. No joy.

I must be missing something.

Check Windows Settings, Accessibility, Text Cursor, Text Cursor Indicator is turned off.

Did you read the solution for this issue with OneDrive?

Quitting the application is not enough, you must as a minimum, stop OneDrive syncing the Magix folder and its subfolders in OneDrive, and dowmload everything Photostory related from OneDrive to the appropriate folders within the Magix folder.

I reinstalled PS using custom settings to a location outside of OneDrive. There are no files associated with it on OneDrive. This didn't help.

It is possible that the previous uninstall did not actually remove everything that is part of PS 2026!

The default Windows uninstaller removes everything listed in the Install Log but, because certain files and registry entries are created on first and subsequent runs of the software, these are not listed in that log.

The usual advice offered here is to use something like Revo Uninstaller to ensure everything connected with the initial install is removed. Revo has Free, paid-for and portable versions. Personally, I use the paid-for version since I can use it to monitor the installation of any new software, but the free and/or portable versions are equally effective at finding, listing and, at your choice, removing any and all files which may be part of the original installation. You just need to check carefully anything and everything it lists to be removed, especially if you have any other Magix software installed on your computer.

In your specific situation I think I would use Revo to completely remove the existing installation(s) - after first selecting under Help>Deactivate program (to ensure that you do not encounter an issue with attempting to register the next install) - and then reinstall to your chosen location.

Did you also check the setting of the Text Cursor that @johnebaker suggested?
