Re-open files on launch

Windows 7 64-bit

Sound Forge Pro 13 (Build 135) 64-bit

When I open Sound Forge, it usually re-opens the file(s) I had open when I last closed the application. In the past few days, it has stopped doing this for no apparent reason. Could I have accidentally pressed a key combination that turns this feature off? I have looked through Prefs a few times and can't find it. I can't find it in the Options menu, either.

I usually like to keep a file open that contains 200ms of silence so I can copy and paste it whenever I need it. If anyone knows how I can assign an action to a hotkey to insert 200ms of silence at the cursor, I'd love to hear about it.

Many thanks.

I cannot think of a setting off-hand, you could try resetting SF and clearing the cache. Resetting reverts customizations the factory defaults.. better yet, update to build 111, which may fix it and not change your custom settings. Read the release notes, a default was changed, so opening additional file(s) creates another instance of SF, which you may or may not like, It can be reverted back to the legacy behavior in the hidden 'Internal' menu though if you do not like it.

Create a "Insert Silence" keyboard shortcut in the "Options" menu. Customize keyboard> Global" search 'insert'. Alternately write a script (or have someone write it).

Thanks for that, Rick. You said "update" to build 111. but isn't that a previous build? I might try resetting because I've been on this build for ages and it was fine up until a few days ago. Sometimes I think my version is haunted.

Might try assigning a hot key to Insert Silence, too. Once it's already set up for 200ms at the cursor, I won't need to keep changing it so a hot key will suffice. No idea why I never thought of this. Thanks for your help.

Sorry Paul, I was thinking SF Pro-14. The reset and custom keyboard settings are the same though..

@Paul-Fegan

Hi

In Program Settings, General tab is the option Open default workspace on startup checked?

If this check box is selected, files that were open when you last exited the program will be opened automatically.

Thanks Rick and John. I'm away from Sound Forge right now, but I'll try all these solutions when I'm editing tonight. Much appreciate your help. Cheers.

Thanks, guys. Just so you know, "Open default workspace on startup" was unchecked. I have no idea how this happened but I rechecked it and this issue is resolved now. Cheers.
