There's no "pro sound USB sound card" that comes up in a Google search.  Are you sure that's correct.  You need to be more exact in your descriptions.

The exact name is ProSound Guitar to USB Recoding Lead (16-bit 44kHz mono recording).

Hi:

I think butcher.baker is referring to, "ProSound Guitar to USB Lead".  It is certainly not a "soundcard", but a USB connector that once attached to your laptop/desktop USB connector enables one to play sound through it to the PC. http://www.maplin.co.uk/guitar-to-usb-lead-225789

Hi, yep it's a USB connector.  Is it still possible to use this connector to record music on MMM 2013 using the ASIO v2 driver so when I go to record I can hear the guitar and backing track which is the main problem? Is the case I need to choose the right selections in the software?

If not is it best to have an external sound card?

Any advice would be welcomed.

Hello butcher.baker:

You asked if is possible to use the "ProSound Guitar To USB Recording Lead" with MMM 2013.  I see know reason why not.  It should boil down to you configuring MMM's software to interface with the USB connector and your electric guitar.  One thing you did not mention is your Operating System (OS).  That is very key when trying to get a handle on these issues.  Let me know about your OS.

Hi, thanks for your response.  The operating system I'm using is Windows 7.

Hi baker.buther:

Windows 7 x64 or x86 should detect your ProSound Guitar To USB Recording Lead device automatically and make it available to MMM 2013.  Make sure your Audio Input/Ouput settings are correct (if you have not already done so).  File\Settings\Program Settings\Audio/MIDI\Output Device\<your guitar>\.  You've stated that you are already using ASIO v2 for MIDI.  As I've mentioned, MMM 2013 should recognize this device; as others at various sites have stated.

I have used several MIDI controller keyboards with the program and have not run into major difficulties.

Keep me posted.

Sorry.  I incorrectly typed your name.  Meant to type: "butcher.baker".  My apologies.

Hi Griff,  Thanks for the help so far.  I've followed your sequence for input/output but for output device the only option in the dropdown box is Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth.  Does this mean its not detecting the USB Lead?  Any ideas would be appreciated once again.

Hi butcher.baker:

Yes.  For some reason your device is not being configured as a MIDI option.  Obviously, this is extremely important when using MIDI controllers.  Try this: Check the Windows 7 Hardware Device/Control Panel option.  Once there, make sure that the, "ProSound Guitar To USB Recording Lead" is indicated under the USB listings.  If it is not there, at the top, of the menu and perform a "Scan For New Hardware" procedure.  Let me say this to you (if I may).  If that fails, please reinstall MMM 2013 from scratch -- including all updates.  Then, once again, make sure that the electric guitar USB interface is present in the Hardware Device/Control Panel (USB section).

Sometimes, what should be a simple act, can turn out to be complete *@% headache -- for no obvious reason.  I've been down your road multiple times.

Keep me posted.

I think there may be some confusion going on here (possibly mine), and a couple of different issues.

First..."I am unable to record my guitar...".  The ProSound Guitar to USB Lead is apparently an audio-to-digital (audio) converter (as I suspected), so MIDI settings would not be involved here.  You would have to make sure the ProSound USB device is set as the AUDIO INPUT device.  Your soundcard/chip would be the audio output device.

Second..."When I try to record(,) I can't here(sic) my guitar & the backing track."

It's likely your audio soundcard/chip is not capable of full-duplex operation (simultaneous input/output).
