SF is a multi-channel editing application. Multi-track applications allow overdubbing (old-school term for playing along with previously recorded material and adding to it). Vegas, Reaper, Pro Tools and Audacity, are a few DAWs. Audacity is free, Reaper is relativity low cost.

did you mean to say it not cause if so, i figured that part out, could send me a couple links of how i can multi track or what software/freeware is best to re cord on one and edit on the other. hope that made sense =] thank you for ur time

Audacity is free. Reaper is $60 usd (non-comercial price) There are many others.. search

Reaper and most others have demo versions. Try some out and choose the one that works for you. Bit for bit and all other factors being equal, there should be no audible difference in sound quality.
