Recording audio speeds up tempo

I am recording audio on a track and when i hit record the playback of the other tracks or tempo has sped up. (overdub)

The tempo is faster then it is normal play back. Why does it do this?

@Joe-Designs This could be a problem caused by different sample rates. Check in the recording settings (press shift+r) and your project settings (press a) that the audio sample rates of your recording and your project are identical.

Yeah that was it, the other tracks where recorded in CD quality 44k and the new track was set to DAT 48k.
