Think this problem arrived when my computer updated to win 11. Do I need an updated driver?

That's the first thing I would suspect. In fact, that would have been the first thing I would have tried.

Hi

I agree with @Former user, it is possible that Windows 11 has replaced the drivers for the USB device with a more generic driver.

See this article and download the correct driver for the colour of USB converter you have,

Note: if the converter is marked K0065 or K0067 use the Premium driver
