reg custom fade scripts from old version not recognized by new reg

Hi there:

I've an issue with inserting my custom fade scripts from my older version of Sound Forge (11) to my newer version (12).

11 did rely on framework 1.1 & 3.5 to function properly, 12 being a newer version relies on neither, I'm not capable of transferring the reg entries successfully from 11 to 12 expecting the fade program to engage them.

The script reg entries go in & they appear in the reg, but in the actual program none of them will activate at all. Another wrench in the works is that I've upgraded to a new op/sys as well, going from 10 19H1 to 10 22H2 means that the older framework versions won't go into the last working version of 10.

Is the reason that sound Forge 12 won't activate the older 11 reg entries because they are designed on an older framework platform?

All of the other directshow reg entries went in with no issue......it's just the entries that go into

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\MAGIX\SOUND FORGE Pro\12.0\Presets

hope I can get this resolved...........thx

@Steve-p There was an old Sony Preset Manager tool. It lets you manage presets for Sound Forge and Acid.

Preset Manager 2.0k Build 114 info https://web.archive.org/web/20150209065845/http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/dl/dl.aspx?dwnid=115

Download Link https://web.archive.org/web/20150403020327/http://dspcdn.sonycreativesoftware.com/current/extras/presetmngr20k.exe

But I don't know how well this let you transfer presets from old versions to version 12.

The main difference between Sound Forge 12 and 11 is, that Sound Forge 12 is a 64 Bit software. So, it simply could be the case that presets are stored under a different key? Have you checked For example under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\DirectShow\Presets and HKEY_USERS\Some-long-ID-number\SOFTWARE\DirectShow\Presets?

You could try to create some presets for Sound Forge 12 and look them up in the Windows Registry. Then you know the correct location

Yes, the old Sony Preset Manager 2.0 app still works with Direct X plugs and Fx Chains, (which can contain VST presets). Otherwise singular VST(.fxp) presets can be copied and pasted to another location directly.

Thx for the reply......already created multiple reg files from 11, the entries all went into the 12 registry, all function as they should with the exception of the *fade* entries. For some reason, even tho the script entries appear in the 12 program fade option, none of them actually engage, if one selects any of them the program does not respond.

I've got a copy of the preset manager, not sure that is works on registry entries, moreso intended for plugins.

Do you have SF Audio Studio 12 or SF Pro 12. AS-12 was a one-time build so preset compatibility with other versions be an issue. I think VST presets would be compatible though.

It is indeed Pro.....but, to bring things up to date I have discovered the source of the issue (I would've been hard pressed to accept this).....my current version of 12 is x64, my version of 11 is x86..(see where this is going?).....not all of the x86 reg entries function in an x64 op/sys, go figure, I had to dl a temp copy of x86 12 from this website, install it, run a wav file, check the fade option & Presto! issue gone.
