RFE: Uninstall.exe

Greets! I'm going to purchase Audio 15 but this had me worried about install failure.

I routinely use Windows "uninstall" (Win7 64), so wasn't worried when I found no uninstall program in the app's folder.
But then I didn't find it in Uninstall. I tried iObit's Uninstall but again found it not.
Reason I wanted it off: it didn't appear in Explorer Context Menu so I wanted to run Install again, to make sure that option was selected.

I deleted the folder (Very foolishly emptied RecycileBin!) and found that install-trial failed ... instructing me to uninstall the program.

For the first time since OMG late 1980s I did a system restore. (I really don't trust that sort of high-level funcitonality.) When I re-installed everything went well, though of course I lost my settings.

All good, in the end, but it took a Restore to make things right.

Edited: That SoundForge did not appear in Context Menu after my installation seems to make sense. But on the second attempt I found that this option defaulted to On. So that it wasn't there in the first place suggests to me that something primitive was seriously frabbed. I think just having a simple Uninstall would be an enhancement.

Is your post a statement or question? Do you wish to uninstall Sound Forge to upgrade, or just get rid of it altogether?

This doesn't come across as a Request for Enhancement? that the app come c/w Uninstall.exe? Apologies .. rereading it, I don't see the confusion.

Sound Forge uninstalls without issue using the Windows uninstall or a third-party application. FWIW. I prefer Revo Uninstall, which can clean left over registry entries an other pertinent data the default uninstall leaves behind.

p.s. Sound Forge appears in Explorer's Context Menu, yes? Well, it does now ... after the 2nd installation. It didn't with the first.That tells me something went wrong. I'm sorry I can't get anything across. Evidently I should just trash the comments I had been writing as Feedback.

I think there was a clash of cultures here. So easy to tangle wires; so hard to untangle!

When it comes to audio, I draw from my time as sound man / recording engineer / broadcast technician. But when it comes to software and systems, I draw on SigInt and NORAD/SAC and MilSpec.
Different ways of relating to the same stuff!

I posted an RFE ("Request for Enhancement") and included the fact that I was looking forward to purchasing Sound Forge. The fact that I think the package should include Uninstall.exe is one person with a suggestion ... nothing more than that. Certainly nothing to argue about.

The fact that I used both Windows UnInstall and iObit UnInstall could show that I knew what I was doing. The fact that I got things straightened out, having used Restore for the first time in over 30 years (I was doing R&D tech_docs with DOS 3.2 and Win3.1) could show that I knew what I was doing.

Just how it came that nothing I wrote made any sense ... that's a cultural thing. FWIW in my 40s I went back to university to study psyhology ... #SocialCognition is at the core of communications!

I hope this puts the issue to rest. I hope in future that technical feedback is not taken as offensive.

Not withstanding the rather petulant nature of your earlier replies to @rraud, a fellow-moderator (which you will, please, NOT repeat or your access to the forums will come under question) and the fact that SFAS clearly does include an Uninstaller, are you aware that SFAS 15 is not designed to work with any version of Windows older than Windows 8? This page list the system requirements.

It is more than possible that the app will not run successfully for you under Win 7.

FAS clearly does include an Uninstaller

I have C:\Program Files\SOUND FORGE\SOUND FORGE Audio Studio 15.0 open in Explorer just now. I see SOUND FORGE Audio Studio 15 Manual.pdf followed by VistaCooperation_rel_u_dynMFC_x64_vc15.dll ... so, no Uninstall.exe
Perhaps it's in another folder? I just don't see it!

So very confusing.
WFM Win7-64 with only one single snag: Could not start scan server VST3-SCANNER.EXE
I wouldn't report even that because this is only the trial version. (SoundForgeAudioStudio15-trial__dlm_ap2wd9.exe)

I suspect what I wrote is being read as sarcastic. It isn't ... I don't do sarcasm.

* I thought RFE here in a rather technical context would be understood as Request for Enhancement ... a request. So "Is your post a statement or question?" really threw me!
* Also, "Do you wish to uninstall Sound Forge" really threw me. Since the post was describing me having done all I could think of to //re-install// it. I just didn't know what to make of that.
* As did "upgrade, or just get rid of it altogether?", since I started off with "I'm going to purchase Audio 15 but this had me worried".

I thought my tone made it clear I had nothing like a chip on my shoulder. It was just a story ... and a request/suggestion.

When you purchase SF, you do not have to uninstall, the trial version (assuming it is the same version), just update the serial code Magix will email to you and any restrictions will be lifted.. You must activate Ozone Elements VST plug-in through iZotope.

My making use of plug-ins is only on the horizon! Most of my time is spent cleaning up OMG 24yrs of MP3!

p.s. I had been using NCH WavePad for years and years, so actually didn't even consider SFAS! But WP has a small number of little glitches that ... well ... they got up my nose X times per day * 7 per week * 52 per year so I finally tried SF. Feels like home!

I would not think so,.
VST-3 could be a limitation of the trial version.. or.. there are no 32 bit VST search folders selected. I am not very familiar with Audio Studio, nor have I ever encountered that notice.

FWIW, Ozone can be installed in the VST 2 and/or VST 3 formats.

moved audioxxx vst2.exe into a temp folder....

 

noticed none of my plugins show

 

put file back, all plugins show

Not that I have need of it now / near future, but will attempt that ... to confirm ... and in case the same happens with Registered Version. [It just now came clear that "Registered" would mean applying a different license code to the very same installation.]

Addendum: just checked ... seems that the file is just where it should be (found: C:\Program Files\SOUND FORGE\SOUND FORGE Audio Studio 15.0\audio_plugin_scan_server_vst3.exe) and, having installed with //all// default settings, SFAS is running just fine!
