Samplitude Music Studio X8 - suddenly crashing

@Steven-Wood

I did notice that in the the VST/ReWire section of System Preferences that the Plug In Buffer preset box was blank, and there is an option to select Default (Best peformance), so was wondering whether this might be part of the issue......also the Maximum VST Buffer size is set at -2 (is that normal?)

It's the same in my settings. But I don't have any crashes.

Since it also crashed with WDM and MME I assume the program crashes are not caused by the audio driver.

Do you have a performance option under the System Settings? In Samplitude Pro X8 I can set the number of CPU cores there. Some users encountered problems because the core number was set too high. Then it's recommended to set it to a low number, for example three cores.

Currently running 15 CPU cores......i'll try setting it lower and see if that helps.

edit.......tried it. Still crashing.

Thanks to everyone for all their help and suggestions, really much appreciated.

I have managed to find a way to make the programme more stable and usable......I'm running the programme in Windows 8 compatabilty mode.

Been using the programme for the last hour or so and no crashes......so far (fingers and everything crossed)

Once again, thanks to everyone who took some time to try and help me with the issue I was having.

I have the programme functioning completely normally now .... I found that my graphics card hadn't updated properly. Searched for the latest driver manually and installed it and the crashes stopped completely.

Running for a week now and zero crashes......phew.

Thanks again

@Steven-Wood Are you still using compatibility mode after updating your GPU driver?

@SP. No mate......everything back as it was before the issue started.

I have to admit, I still get that little anxiety moment every time I change out a VST but, so far, everything seems back normal.

@Steven-Wood Ok. I hope it stays that way. In that case we at least know that it might have something to do with the GPU drivers. This is helpful information for other users with a similar problem.
