Hi

I want to copy some videos from my old VCR Recorder to my DVD recorder in my computer. I am not sure how this is done and would appreciate some advise from anyone who knows how to do this.

My VCR recorder has two Scartplugs connections and L+R Audio outputs. At the moment I have the L+R outputs going into a mixer Audio inputs,  the outputs on the mixer goes into my soundcard in my computer I know this part is correct becauseI have other  audio devices going into the mixer as well. What I'm not sure of is what to do with the scart plug, I know I need a lead with a scart plug at one end and perhaps the other end an HDMI or USB or whatever the case maybe if you can do that, I do have these connections on my computer. My computer is a 7TB Hard drive with i7 proccesser so it's pretty high spec. What I want to know is when I get it connected propley what is the procedure for loading or is it called streaming my videos into Magix Movie Edit Pro MX  2013. I'm sure once I get to that stage I can worl out how to copy them into my CD drive in my computer

Can anyone help please

Michael

Hi

You need a USB video converter to take the audio and analog video and digitise it for the PC.  There are many makes and models available which work with MEP.

Ensure you get a converter that converts both video and audio - feeding the audio to your sound card is not a good idea - you will suffer from latency issues in the soundcard and possible noise issues as well.  Also the sound will not sync with the video.

Your lead should have a SCART connector on one end and red + white audio and a yellow RCA plugs on the other end  -  these connect directly to  the USB converter - you do not need the mixer in the audio chain  - make sure you use a SCART out  or switchable SCART lead.

Hi John

I;m still trying to get this to work.

I have bought a Scart lead to 3 RCA plugs, the Scart has a witch on it so it can work both ways, unfortunatley the switch doesn't say if  it's input  or output so I keep playing around with it, I also bought a USB converter by a company called easyCap. I have plugged the three RCA plugs from the scart  lead into the 3 female RCA plugs on the USB converter then plugged the USB converter into a spare USB port on my computer. Clicked on the record button in Magix Movie Edit Pro, this brings up the record options screen, clicked on the record video, it's saying can't reconise the source or can't find the source, while I have the VHS tape playing. Also with this USB converter I got a CD that says on the CD Video001 Wireless Camera Receiver/ Video 002USB 2.0 DVR/ not sure if I should install it, I did put the CD in my computer drive but nothing happend, I'm sure there must be something more to this like setting up the video or something, Also when I put the USB Video converter in the USB port on my computer I would have thought it would have shown in my computer where the drivesare but they don;t.

Any suggestions please john.

Hi John

Me Again! Just gone back into the Record Page just to clarify what it's saying. When I click on the Video Box the first box that comes up is saying' the device is curerently not supported.'  I click ok. then a second box comes up saying, 'could not select to the selected device' but here;s nothing selected anyway.

on the same page that's the Video Recording Page, at the top where it's saying 1 VIDEO DRIVERS there is nothing in the box it's empty, next to that box where it's saying THE INPUT in that box it says' S-VHS'  in the AUDIO DRIVER Box it saying nothing it's empty, so I suspect it's something to do with these settings but what to do next I don't know.

Hope that is clear what I have written

Hi Michael

. . . . I got a CD that says on the CD Video001 Wireless Camera Receiver/ Video 002USB 2.0 DVR/ . . .

You need to install the drivers from the CD otherwise MEP will not detect the EasyCap device - once you have done this it should appear in the record dialogs.
