Do you have Video Pro X13? If not, what are you currently using?

I would (and do) use the Project Temp Folder in VPX13 to do this. If you have VPX13, I suggest that you read the chapter Project Folder starting on page 58, and then we can discuss specifics. There are some work flow tricks that they don't mention specifically.

I use the Detect Scenes feature to first detect scene changes and split the file at those points. Then, I use the Project Temp Folder to help categorize the clips, etc.

Thank you very much for the quick response. I am evaluating Video Pro X13. I will download the online manual and check out the chapter on Project Folders.
