Hi,
I have used VEGAS Pro for years as an influencer. I am having several issues that are persisting regardless of how I troubleshoot them. I have paid for the program, and I have the VEGAS Pro 21.0 version. I have a ROG Strix G733ZW ROG laptop. Everything is up to date, including the drivers. I have never had processing issues other than what I am about to describe.
The issues:
When I am doing normal YouTube dimensions (horizontal), I have no issues with rendering. However, it has been a huge issue for me to try and render ANY short-form dimensions. The program will glitch in many different ways and will not process to completion. I have had to resort to CapCut for short-form clips, which is a lot of extra time and steps that I do not want to do!
I film on iPhone most of the time, using 4K video. In the past, I have downloaded the footage from iCloud and had no issues bringing said footage into VEGAS Pro. (At times, iCloud will download a ZIP file with the video, and I just drag the raw footage into a folder, then straight into the program for editing.) Note: I have had issues over the past week, and I cannot get iCloud to download the ZIP files anymore. The files are .MOV files from iCloud. VEGAS Pro does not seem to like these files for some reason now... I have tried to fix the drag-and-drop issue in all the ways that I know how. I do not want to sacrifice 4K quality.
By going to Preferences, File I/O, and enabling the checkboxes for Enable legacy AVC decoding & Enable experimental HEVC decoding, I am able to get the .MOV files into the program! However, no matter how I try to render it, there are issues persisting. It's not the footage itself; it looks and sounds fine on my phone, when I download it to my computer, and when I put it into other programs like CapCut. But when it's in VEGAS Pro, there are random black-screen moments as well as audio cutouts (but the audio looks fine on the audio wave lines; it just goes silent in the program).
I have tried to download the QuickTime Player fix that I have seen work for others in YouTube videos. That did not work for me. I have also tried uninstalling the program and redownloading the program that I purchased, and that doesn't work either. I even downloaded HandBrake to use to convert the files into an .MP4, which came with its own set of new issues. Plus, I don't want to add more steps/time editing and converting that are not needed. I am frustrated, depressed, and at a loss about this!
If anyone could help me with this, I would be eternally grateful. It's ruining my life.
