Should I Uninstall Previous Versions Before Install New MEP 2016?

I currently have MEP 2013 Plus and MEP 2015 Plus loaded on my PC.  I'm ready to install MEP 2016 Plus.  I didn't see anything in the manual about uninstalling previous versions before installing new versions.  I'm always concerned about conflicts between version files.

Assuming I don't have to go back and edit any old MEP project, is there any benefit in keeping the old versions on my PC?  For instance, would an uninstall of an old version remove additional add-on files (ie, sound archives) I could still use in the new MEP version?

I'm inclined to create as fresh an install as possible and deactivate/uninstall the old programs before I install MEP 2016.  Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Rick

Hi

MEP 2016 installs into its own location, if you accept the default settings during install so it is not necessary to uninstall MEP 2015.

I would advise you keep both versions of MEP on your computer as a 'just in case'.  If you do eventually find you do not need MEP 2015 then you can uninstall at a later date.

Projects created with versions MEP 14 (2008) onwards can be oprened and edited with MEP 2016.

If you have purchased any extra templates eg Sound Maker styles, Project templates or Disc menu templates these can be added to MEP 2016.

Thanks for the advice John.  That's what I was thinking of doing and it's great to get some confirmation.

Hi,

This is and old post but it is what I need right now. I have ME2015 Premium installed as well as ME 2017 Premium. I am glad I have both versions because in the latter Spice Master 2.5 does not show. A couple of days ago I upgraded MEP 2015 to 14.0.0.187 version and Saved Settings of Spice Master does not work any more. There is a message that says files can not be found.

Is there a solution for this or do I have to go back to the previous version and if so, how do I do this?

Your replies would be very much appreciated,

José Robles
