Sound distortions during video transitions

FingersX wrote on 3/28/2022, 1:14 AM

Hi,
Editing GoPro video in 4k 25fps I get an audio noise added during the video transitions(Not all, but at least 50% of the transitions will have this sound). Doesn't matter what transition I use it is still there. When I remove the transitions the additional sound is gone. To describe the sound it would be like having your Stereo/Home Theatre set to max volume with no music playing, just the sound of them on and at max.

Any help in sorting this out would be great.

Thanks

Hi and welcome to the forum

We need more information on your systems specification:

Audio card/chipset, Program version, see this topic I would suggest you put this information in your profile signature so we do not have to keep asking for it.

Are the graphics card drivers up to date?

A screen shot of the Program settings, Display options or Device options tab.

Download and install MediaInfo and analyse one of the clips and post the results, see this tutorial if you are not familiar with MediaInfo on how to setup MediaInfo and analyse a video clip for the data required.

The amount of free space on the hard drive(s) you have.

Thanks for your reply Ray.

Yes that link was helpful and is the same issue but without using a external mic. After further messing around it doesn't make any difference what audio setting I use on the Gopro. This sound also only appears when you cut the same video file and apply transitions. This does not occur when you apply a transition from separate video files which is strange. I also have Magix Fastcut Plus and I have never had and still don't have this issue with the same Gopro

Hi

Thanks for the MediaInfo data, we are still missing:

  • Audio card/chipset, Program version, see this topic I would suggest you put this information in your profile signature so we do not have to keep asking for it.

  • Are the graphics card drivers, both Intel and AMD up to date?

  • A screen shot of the Program settings, Display options or Device options tab.

Additionally what are the Buffer number and sizes in Program Settings, Playback tab

Hi John, Thank you for your help.

I have added the computer/software details to my signature.

All drivers are up to date.

I have changed the settings from using GPU to use the CPU with no difference. I have moved the buffer to a higher value and it does reduce the popping while editing but it is there when you export the complete project and play it on the tv or your phone. Its strange that it only appears when you cut up the same video file. If I have 7 individual video files and put a 2sec transition between them, it will be perfect with no popping. If I cut a video file anywhere and join it to a different video file that's also been cut that's not a problem either. Its only when working with in the same video file.

I have also tried making a video in Magix Fastcut and then continued the editing it in Movie Edit Pro. As long as I don't change the transitions its also fine. But I cant recreate the same video in Movie Edit Pro with out the popping through transitions.

Hi

Thanks for the information.

. . . . I have changed the settings from using GPU to use the CPU with no difference . . . .

This only affects Hardware acceleration for decoding, encoding and processing of video.

. . . . ROG SupremeFx Codec S1220A . . . .

This is a modified Realtek S1220A .

Check the following:

  • Windows settings, System, Sound, Properties, Enhance audio is off

In the Realtek Audio Console that:

  • Sound effects, Environment and Equalizer are turned off.

  • Default format, Main volume is set to 48000 Hz 24 bit
