Sound Forge Pro 11.0 Build 299 Requires Elevated Priviledges

LRClifford02 wrote on 2/9/2021, 12:26 PM

Currently on Windows 7 Pro SP1 64-Bit reinstalled 1/9/2021 due to hard drive crash. No updates from Microsoft because they deleted all of them on about 1/7/2021. Reinstalled this program 1/10/2021. I have used the program as of 2/8/2021 without any problems using this my (Administrative). Today it requires elevated privileges. Why do I get this error message now? I indicate I want to register using the Internet. I get an error I cannot connect to the Internet. I am connected. I typed in an "Optional Authentication Code". The error "Invalid Code" is displayed. What code can I type into continue? I need this program now. I am in the process of installing a Windows 10 64-bit English desktop I just purchased. I want to migrate this program to Windows 10. An option would be to purchase a Magix program with similar features. Financially that will temporarily hurt me. I will look at the emails I receive from Magix to see what is available. Thank you for your assistance.

Hi @LRClifford02, the 'Elevated Privileges' issue is much more common in Pro 10, but does occasionally affect Win 10 PCs with SF-11 as well.
There are a few options to address it. See this recent post.

If none of the 'Elevated Privileges' options work, (they usually do) you can try downloading and re-installing the latest (last) Pro 11 build from the Magix Download Center. You will need your log-in info and a valid serial number for the version you wish to download.

I looked and the previous posts indicated by "rraud" and did not wand to go through all of that. What do you expect of a person that does not know the internal workings of and operating system. Fortunately I am familiar with operating systems. I have done it for many years.

I uninstalled the previous version on my desktop (Windows 7 Pro 64-bit), downloaded the most recent version of Sound Forge Pro 11 "1.3.40.36", installed it, and registered it online. It is now working. Let's see how long that lasts.

For the future: what Magix program does someone suggest that will work on Windows 10 64-bit English? I don't need all of the fancy features (or options).

The Elevated Privilege issue is usually a result of (some) Win 10 updates, I do not recall anyone have this happen on Win 7 PCs. Hopefully it will not happen again

Sound Forge Audio Studio-15 was just published. I would not consider it an upgrade though, even coming from a legacy Pro version.

There are two versions of Audio Studio 15, 1) Sound Forge Audio Studio and 2) Sound Audio Studio Studio 365. What is the difference? I assume payment options. What are they? Is Sound Forge Audio Studio going to be like Microsoft Office 365 (pay monthly or annually).

Specifically will Sound Forge Pro 11 "1.3.40.36" that I just downloaded run on Windows 10 64-bit English? I don't require many sophisticated features in Audio Studio.

@LRClifford02

I think there is some misunderstanding on your part about how Sound Forge Audio Studio and Sound Forge Pro relate to each other.

Sound Forge Audio Studio (SFAS) is a cut-down version of Sound Forge Pro (SF Pro). You seem to think the reverse is the case.

32 bit Sound Forge Pro 11 (as well as SF 9 and 10) will run just fine on 64 bit Windows.

I don't require many sophisticated features in Audio Studio.

As Jeff stated, Audio Studio is the cut down version, SF Pro has the "sophisticated" features.,
