Sound forge won't load

Hi all,

I recently bought Sound Forge 17 after getting a new laptop, as I was unable to reinstall Sound Forge 10.

The installation completed without any issues, but when I try to open Sound Forge the splash screen appears and then disappears at the “initialising audio engine” stage. It’s not running in the background — it simply closes. I’ve tried reinstalling and running it as an administrator, but no luck.

I’ve submitted several tickets to MAGIX, but that's been about as useful as a chocolate fireguard - Im not sure anyone works in there support department!

If anyone has managed to get this working, I’d really appreciate some help.

Laptop: Samsung 5 Pro – Windows 11, Intel Core Arc 7, 16 GB RAM.

@Nathanael-Latham Do you have Sound Forge Audio Studio 17? This installs the Magix Low Latency ASIO audio driver which is an old version of ASIO4ALL. Sound Forge Pro 17 doesn't install it.

This old version of ASIO4ALL seems to be incompatible with modern devices. You can uninstall it with the following steps:

press the Windows key + R on your computer keyboard, and type REGEDIT in the Open field and press Enter. This opens the Windows Registry Editor.

Then navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > ASIO > Magix Low Latency 2016:

Now, simply right click the Magix Low Latency 2016 folder, and delete it. Be careful not to edit or to delete anything else!

Then restart your computer. Please select the Restart option and not the Shut down option.

I hope this helps.

Im not sure anyone works in there support department!

Yeah, it's odd. It's like they shut down support in September or October. People simply don't get any response from them. Not sure what's going on.

I was unable to reinstall Sound Forge 10.

@SP. You are a legend! It has loaded up no issues! 😁

What MAGIX lack in system support, the users are picking up!

Thanks for your help and rapid response!
