Sound Library - Grasping Navigation & Directory Requirements

Hi Gang

This has been discussed before. Just wanted to re-clarify. For those who build extensive 'Sound Stages' I'm still not clear if its a requirement to actually 'copy' each and every sound file needed to the same folder that contains the respective 'MEP' project folder? Imagine working with and saving dozens of project folders - imagine accumulating a 'HUGE Sound Library' - I've worked with software that only requires those sound files be located in a consistent place/drive/location. Unless 'Import Only' is an acceptable path when inserting your sound effects to the timeline, do these sound effects files actually need to be located in the same project folder with the project you're working on?

Thank You

I just figured out I can place a sound library folder within the parent folder 'Movie Edit Pro Plus' and load effects from that folder accordingly.

I'm not sure what you are trying to accomplish, but I wouldn't recommend putting anything in the Program files or Program Data folders, if that is what you did.

If your sound library folder is on your computer under your Documents, or Music, leave it there. In MEP, under Import, navigate to this folder. Once there, click on the parameter gear at the top of the import window, and select "Create link for folder." Now your folder will always be accessible under the import tab. You can rename it if you want.

I do this for folders in which I have music, masks and other things that I have accumulated, as well as direct links to the folders where the images and videos are stored for any projects that I am working on. It makes it easy to get back to them. Once done, select the link, right click, Delete link. No files are deleted, just the link.

"not sure what you are trying to accomplish?" I'm just trying to get a clear understanding of WHERE you can STORE your library of sounds so they'd be accessible for other MEP projects. I was led to believe they would have to be in the same project folder. So I'm relieved to hear that's NOT the case ... As you cautioned one should put the library in Documents or Music .... understood thank you ...
