while downloading a mp3 file got an error message ,prompting a send notification to Magix but no response on a correction or fix. The software is crashed ,can`t close the program or use. do i uninstall,reinstall need help or would like to buy something that works.
Hi @Frederick-Hicklin, are you downloading the MP3 to your PC and then opening the file in Sound Forge? Does the same behavior happen with PCM (wave) files?
You could try enabling 'Always proxy compressed formats'. in the "Options> Preferences> General" menu if it is only occurs with MP3s.
mp3 or .wav doesn`t matter the program won`t open,not even as administrator ,this error prevents opening the program. should i reinstall the program to start fresh?
Hi @Frederick-Hicklin, did you try resetting Sound Forge and clearing the cache?
'File> "Reset all preferences and clear cached data"
.. If you can not open Sound Forge to access the 'File' menu, hold down the 'Ctrl+Shift' keys and launch SF, which opens the reset/clear cache tool directly.

In that case, I would uninstall Sound Forge using a third-party uninstaller like 'Revo Uninstall' that can uninstall and remove left-over registry entries and other pertinent data the Windows uninstall leaves behind, which can cause issues to reoccur. Use Revo's 'advanced' scan mode, but be careful not to delete 'shared' data if another version of SF is installed.
Revo Uninstall has a pro and freeware versions. The free version is adequate in most cases,
