Split screen

v850tw wrote on 12/5/2017, 11:17 AM

I have been using Video Pro X almost a year for basic editing. I need to put 2 video clips on the screen - one left and one right. I do not see crop and other clip controls as I would find in other editors. I found a wipe but can not see how to keyframe it, to hold the wipe in the center revealing half a clip one side or the other. I have searched and obviously I am not using the correct words. I am attempting to show some camera people the comparison of 2 similar video images and I also want to zoom them in one place to show quality differences. Can someone tell me how to do this? I know how in other software editors... but not here! ugggg.......

Hi

. . . . I do not see crop and other clip controls as I would find in other editors . . . .

They are on the Effects tab under View animation - Size/position, Section and Camera/Zoom shot

How to achieve the effect you want this depends on how much of the left and right videos you want to see ie do you want to start with full height and crop the width or full width across half the screen with centred half height.

There is also the NewBlue Elements, Split screen effect lower down under the same tab.

Hi,

Just to clarify what John EB said, cropping is done under Section and cannot be keyframed. Once a section is taken, the keyframing is done under Size/Position.

Thanks guys. I found a youtube video during lunch showing the section effect. I would have never thought of that name of an effect! Thanks for commenting. I wish there was a cheat sheet comparing Magix terminology with the other major editors. I knew this program had to do it... I was struggling to find it. In my last editor (SD)... I could configure every part of a wipe and would just set it as static with the wipe in the middle and still be able to crop and position the clips in the wipe transition. Have to learn to do it the Magix way.

This is what I was simply trying to do..... I shot the left side, and a friend back home shot the right side. I am trying to show him why lighting is needed. His camera gained up.
