Hi.

It clearly states on the box that it compat

So what do you think ? Will Movie Edit pro work well on

AMD Ryzen 3 3250U - 8GB RAM - AMD Radeon Vega 3 Graphics.

The problem for me answering that question is the the use of the word 'well'. I personally think I would be disappointed with the results for video editing on that system especially as it will not run on the latest patches without upgrading to Windows 10.

To run well you would need an older version of the software such as Movie Edit Pro 2020 or 2019 which would be better suited to your machine for a full experience not suffering delays in response times or excessive export times.

Hi.

Even with Windows 10 it barely scrapes the minimum requirements.

I personally don't think it will be a good experience. You will suffer stutters on playback possibly even using proxy files or pre-rendering and long export times if working with content of HD or above. Adding any effects could possibly be problematic.

I was hoping that was your current computer. That laptop would also be running extremely hot with that workload.

Also Magix has not as far as I know stopped all the updates for this version as yet. It could get even more demanding of hardware in the future.

In my opinion the base core program will run but not well. I stand by my earlier assessment.

Hi.

It depends on the source files. The resolutions and codecs used. What types of effects you expect to be able to use. Video editing is the most demanding task you can ask a computer to do. Much more than most other programs by a large magnitude.

There are other video editors out there that may work on your system. Some of them are free.

Filmora is a good free basic version one to try out first. If you can't get that base program to work then you will see the problem.

Davinci Resolve is another one. They are not without their own problems but may be alternatives for you to try.

Hi

. . . . I am just doing simple you tube video, not cinematic CGI full length movies... . . .

What you are outputting for is not a critical factor in the usability of the program - it is the source videos you have to work with that are the important factor in whether the PC/laptop will function smoothly enough to be usable. For example source video of 2.7K, 4K or 8K will, with increasing size, bring the laptop you have looked to a point where the editing experience will be very frustrating for you. The resolution of your source videos will be a big factor in usability no matter which editor you use.

You have not told the format and resolution of the source video files you are using.

I have tested MEP 2022 on an AMD Ryzen 5 5500U 6 core processor with Radeon graphics (7 Graphics core) 8GB of RAM. Using FullHD 1920 x 1080 (AVC h.264) source video it was usable, adding some effects such as sharpening and Brightness/Contrast made it slightly laggy.

The laptop you have specified, an AMD Ryzen 3 3250U has a 2 core processor and limited GPU capability having 3 Graphics cores, and would limit you to working with HD (720p) h.264/AVC encoded video files at best, Full HD 1920 x 1080 if you can wait for the lags.

If your source video files are greater resolution then HD 1280 x 720 or HEVC (h.265) encoded and you want a smoother editing experience then you need to be looking for a CPU with 4 cores minimum or AMD and a suitable GPU eg on the GTX 1050 / AMD RX470 level.

Yeah...bought a laptop today with intel i7 processor and 16gb ram...I think I will be fine at this poont. Makes me wonder how youtube creators made videos decades ago without all these things...

Hi.

YouTube has been around for 17 years so not quite 'decades'.

Also the first YouTube videos were limited to a resolution of 320×240 pixels.

With internet speeds at that time it would have taken ages to upload a video and for them even longer to process it.

My first camera that could shoot video had a resolution of 640 x 480 pixels in 2008. Not that I used it for video back then, it was mainly for shooting stills.

It was a while before while before YouTube ever got to HD levels.

I know it was a tongue-in-cheek comment but I was trying to show how fast computer specs evolve and can make 'older' machines redundant for newer applications. I'm not keen on that either.
