Storing Magix Movie Edit Pro movies on external hard drive. What format?

Running out of memory on my computer so bought an external hard drive where I am hoping to save films I still need to burn on to DVD from time to time. What would be the best format to save them as so that I can still burn DVDs to include the Magix menu? Hope someone can help. Cheers.

Hi

There are several ways of doing this:

1.  Make a Backup copy using MEP

This is the easiest way -  File, Backup copy, Copy project and media to a folder as shown below

Craete the folder on the external hard drive and then run the Backup.

Note this will only copy the files actually used in the project to the folder - if you have unused resources in the source folder these will not be copied across.

2.  My method

Each project I make has a containing folder with all the resouces used in it, organised as shown in the image below.

The example above is one of many folders  in this case my Summer 2014 holiday - I then copy the whole folder and contents to my external hard drive(s).  This keeps everything together and I can re-edit, burn new copies of the project as required.

The folders with names such as AS30V, XR520 etc refer to the cameras that were used and I seperate out video and images as you can see..

HTH

Hi John! A massive thank you for taking the time to answer my question. It's doing exactly what I wanted it to do. Magix is great but the user manual... not so much... so your help is greatly appreciated. My computer is breathing a sigh of relief. Christine
