Thanks for the reply @CubeAce but after years of using MEP, looking under the main screen for any messages has become an instinctive action.

There were no hidden windows and, as I say, no sign of any action from the cursor.

I just wondered if anyone else had any action - if you'll pardon the expression.

When a crash with no log occurs it is likely that the videodeluxe.ini file has become corrupt, have you tried a reset from within the program?

If you do you will get the you can install the extra content message again

I did not have to re-install the extras as they were already there. Using the setting shown above stops the popup re-appearing.

Thanks for the reply John. When this anomaly first happened this morning, I could still access the "install extra content" menu item. It's just the Update Online that gets no reaction from a click.

I've carried out a reset but I still get no reaction when clicking "Help / Update Online" although on first loading MEP did offer me a price for upgrading to MEP 2021 Pro, which I find interesting as that's the version I have.

Does your copy of MEP 2021 show a window when you click it?

I'm sure this isn't a problem, I just don't want to miss out when an update is available.

Did you have Firefox running by any chance?

I have seen several reports of Firefox hogging the network connection, and Windows 10 2004 no Internet/managing network connections issues, not letting other programs have access to the Internet, this may also be the cause of issues some Magix program users have had with socket connection time outs.

I started MEP 2021 with Firefox running in the background and had an issue I thought I had sorted reared up again - not getting past the splash screen, I got MEP running by ending the Updater task however when I went to Update online nothing happened.

After shutting down Firefox and MEP, then restarting MEP with no issue, the Update dialog opened when I clicked Update online.

What I don't like with my MEP 2020 is the window asking me to update. I always click the 'Do not ask me Again' box but it never stops. Every time I open the program, there it is, so what's the use of checking the box?

I do use Firefox 82.0.2, I wasn't aware it was running in the background but it could well have been as I'd been looking at The Election progress just before loading MEP.

MEP's been behaving itself since but still no Update Dialog. I'll have to see what happens as and when an update is available.

A few months later from my original post and I've just come to use ProDAD Picture Enhanz RT again and it's asking me for an activation code to remove the logo. It was working OK on Staurday.

I know my memory isn't what it was but I don't remember using an activation code initially for this effect I know the Mercalli set is for 2 years

The question is, does anybody know If Picture Enhanzr RT just a limited time trial version or have I developed a glitch? I know that the Mercalli V5 Suite is on a 2 year licence from date of purches of MEP2021 but I've only had it for 2 months.

All the other effects within the Suite work as they should.

I don't really want to contact Magix about it until I'm sure if it's their problem or mine.

I had a similar thing happen with Mercalli V5 a week or two ago when it started watermarking the clips. I entered my serial number and then I had to enter an activation code in the V5 Effect window after clicking register or validate or whatever it says on the button and the watermark went away. No clue as to why it did that as can not see that anything has updated prior. I only have MS Edge on my workstation.

BTW I am sure the sales blurb says Mercalli V5 Suite is unlimited - but maybe that is just for VPX.

I must have put in an activation code then when I installed MEP2021 but I can't for the life of me remember doing it. It was probably the excitement of having a new toy.

After reading your reply, I checked my emails but just before Christmas I had a problem with my email program and I lost a couple of months worth of messages - including all of the Magix ones. I usually back up on a monthly basis, as I don't get anything important these days, but this stretched to 2 months and I obviously put it off for a day too long.

Your reply reminded me that I have a file in my drawers(?) of Magix stuff from over the years and the MEP2021 registration numbers were there.

All is working now, thanks for jogging my memory.

I still don't understand why Mercalli threw a wobbly. It was OK on Saturday, b******d on Tuesday - no Windows update, no crashes, nothing out of the ordinary. Ho Hum.
