Sudden Track Volume Changes, Audio Sync Issues and Download Dialog

sunago wrote on 4/28/2022, 2:39 PM

Hello. I have used MEP for several years and have learned a lot from this forum in the past. Now, I have upgraded to Movie Studio 2022 and I'm noticing three problems I did not have with MEP:

- For some reason I haven't yet identified, MS2022 dropped the volume on two tracks in my mix. One of them was the voiceover track and then other was just a sound effects track. I did not change the volume settings on either one manually. ...but - no matter what I did - MS2022 played them so quietly I could barely hear them. When I moved the files to other tracks, they played fine. ...but Track 5 and Track 7 randomly played everything quietly. Any ideas on this one?

- I am having the same video/audio sync problems I read others were having with MS2022. Once I have adjusted the speed for any reason, everything after that is out of sync (even when using a video clip's original audio). Any ideas on how to work around this? Is Magix working on the problem?

- Finally, I have the annoying dialog box problem again. Every time I open the program, I get the dialog box that wants me to download extra content (demos, etc.). I checked the "do not show" box, but it keeps coming back. What can I do about this?

Thanks in advance for all your help.

Hi

Did you record the voiceover directly into MMS while playing back the video?

If so was the option in the Recording dialog, Advanced option indicated below turned on?

. . . . Once I have adjusted the speed for any reason, everything after that is out of sync (even when using a video clip's original audio). Any ideas on how to work around this? Is Magix working on the problem? . . . .

This is a known issue and has been reported to Magix with samples and is being addressed.

See this comment for the annoying Download Manager pop-up

As always, John, I thank you for your help. To answer your first question, no. I recorded the voiceover files in advance with audio software. I just brought them into MS2022 as .wav files. I still can't figure why there was any volume change - especially when the files didn't indicate any changes (They were still at the volume settings they had upon import - they just PLAYED quietly. Weird.). One thought on that, though. I did have a 5.1 channel audio file earlier in the video with a volume curve. I deleted it because of the sync issue, but I wonder if the volume curve setting somehow affected the whole track behind that file? Just guessing, but I have no idea.

Thanks for the sync info. I'll cross my fingers on that one!

As for the dialog box, you guessed it! That is exactly what I did. I will undo it immediately. Thank you again!

Hi.

Do you still have the sound mixer in the 5.1 surround configuration? If so change it back to stereo.

@CubeAce

I am not sure I understand your question. I didn't change the configuration and - when I first added the voiceover files to the video, they sounded fine. I don't know what event caused them to lose volume. ...and I am not sure how to change configurations. (I didn't use any software except for Goldwave and MS2022). Thanks for your idea, though! I am sure I'm just not understanding your suggestion.

@sunago

My fault. Sorry.

I had wrongly assumed that if you had 5.1 surround files in the project that you would be using the 5.1 surround mixer option.

If you didn't then it is not relevant, so sorry for any confusion.

Hi

. . . .  a 5.1 channel audio file earlier in the video with a volume curve . . . .

Assuming that the Mixer track volumes are set to 0dB for the affected audio track(s) that is possible, though I think this is more of a track effect for which there is a simple solution - move the 2 affected audio objects down to unused track(s) and delete the track(s) they were on.

@johnebaker

Thanks, John. That's how I got around the problem. I just moved the audio files to unaffected tracks, cleared the messed up ones and deleted them. ...but I am still no 100% sure what caused tracks number 5 and 7 to randomly have volume problems when none of the rest were changed. It's strange. Thanks again for all your helpful advice!
