hi, i have a stereo jack cable to two mono jacks going from my electronic keyboard  to each line in port on the tascam u22l i have no problem with drivers all updated . my problem is that after i have recorded about 5 tracks in both magix when i go to record again the playback from the other tracks are distorted and crackling then magix freezes then crashes i have tried it on 2 computers running vista, the first few tracks record and play back fine but by the time i go to record the 5th or 6th track i keep getting the same problem .i have at least 3gb of ram and dual core processer and cant understand why this keeps happening everytime i get to the same recording, please help.

With the 2 computers, are yu using the same MM program ?  or do you have 2 copies ?  Since everything works up to a point, i would suspect some sort of buffering problem in that its getting filled up or the processor speed is overloaded.  How long are the trracks ?  Have you modified them with the various bells and whistles that Magix provides you to mess things up with....voice of experience.

Thanks, Ive got magix  11 deluxe on pc and mx premium on laptop but i get to the same point in each program with exactly the same problem the track lengh is 4.30mins there are no effects what so ever on the tracks from magix tweaks just recorded raw from my yamaha keyboard, my laptop has a bit more power than  my pc but roughly the same specs with 3gb of ram, the pc only has magix installed on it as i only use it for music so theres loads of space on the harddrive i dont use it for anything else.  i have also even tried  a  usb midi controller keyboard (without the tascam) and i only get as far as about 3 tracks with that cos when i go to record the 4th the playback sound cuts off while recording so i cant hear the backing tracks,  any ideas cos its so frustrating, thanks again

Well lets see.....2 different PCs, 2 different MM programs,...but same problem.....so, whats common....YOU...

How well do you know and use MM ?  Have you ever recorded a multi track sucessfully in the past ?  I would suspect you have a option wrong or a setting incorrect and its tahe same in both programs since the 2 MM in many ways are the same.  Since its the same problem, just concentratae on one PC and one MM program and stop going back and forth.  Think outside the box and stop doing the same things over and over and expecting a differrent result.  If you've tried "everything" and it still doesn't work....guess waht....you haven't tried everything.

I'll be staanding by....go gettum

ive been using magix for a long time but not with the tascam us 22l ,i used to  use the yamaha aw16g multitrack recorder but because its not usb i had to mixdown each track to stereo then burn them  to cd using the aw16g built in cd burner then load the cd into  magix where i would edit each track with effects  with no problems at all but the whole process takes a long time thats why its easier using the tascam and a lot quicker playing my keyboard straight into magix and better quality sound( untill i reach the problem)  , ive updated the firmware for the tascam and as mentioned before magix records the first few tracks no problem but play back while recording  after about the 5th track then  the sound starts crackling and distorting to the point i cant even hear it then magix freezes .the tascam cant be faulty because my keyboard plays through it fine, ive even tried the buffer settings in magix but it makes no difference

Years ago I had to replace a fuel pump in my car...went a bought a new one and put it in...car still doesn't run...took off the carbutator, adjusted tahe floats and replaced the jets....car still wouldn't run....blew out t he fuel lines....car still wouldn't run....went and got another NEW fuel pump, just like the other NEW fuel pump and swapped them out....guess what ....car ran for another 12 years.  So, where am I going with all this...its the TAscam.  you're telling me you are experienced and have done all of this before and never had a problem....NOW you insert a Tascam into the picture and guess what...its broke...not necessarily the TAscam itself, but what you are trying to do with it.
