Technical Difficulties

SnF wrote on 12/30/2020, 2:08 AM

Hi
I'm having some technical issues with my MMM program. It crashes a lot and since I have reinstalled MMM an error shows up when I try to log into the MMM app store, stating that there has been an error with the purchase process. The major issue that this error raises is opening saved data, it won't let me open my projects without logging in and I can't log in because of the error. It doesn't have an error code, just states that there is an error with the purchase process.
So I'm reaching out to MAGIX forums, can anyone help me please?

Kind regards

What I think has happened is since the re-installation of MMM it must think that it's been installed onto more than two computers locking me out from logging in

@SnF

If that is the case you need to go to your Magix account, log in and go to My Products. Check there how many activations are listed. Deactivate any you no longer need. Then try to log in again and activate the new install.

However, there is a possible issue with the procedure you have followed: before you reinstalled the software did you first completely uninstall the "old" version? Unfortunately, the built-in uninstaller does not actually remove everything from your computer because files and folders are created after installation which the uninstaller knows nothing about! Hence, they are not removed and could be the source of your problem.

If making changes in your account makes no change to the problem, post back and we can advise rather more about how to successfully remove everything connected with the previous install.

@emmrecs, thanks for getting back to me

Okay so I've tried what you suggested and completely removed all MMM files from computer and reinstalled MMM. I checked the tab where it shows number of OS MMM can be installed to, all good there that wasn't the case. So I tried to activate MMM by creating an activation code but it comes up with a message saying "error no activation code could be created, please try again later."

@SnF

Thanks for the update, and sorry you are still experiencing this problem.

However, can I check one or two things? Did you check the number of activations currently listed in your Magix Account? (You say your checked the tab) but it is not explicitly clear which tab.

Then, the uninstall: unfortunately, even removing all MMM files from computer may not actually achieve a total uninstall! There are entries in the registry, for example, that can remain untouched by the process. I would strongly recommend finding, downloading and installing Revo Uninstaller Pro (there is a Free and a paid-for version, I have the latter and use it to both monitor installs and successfully complete uninstalls, when needed). Run Revo and allow it to thoroughly search your whole computer for anything connected with MM. It will show you what it has found, both files, folders and registry entries, and allow you to select which of these you wish to remove. One important caveat: if you have any other Magix software installed check very carefully everything Revo lists to be removed; the list could include items needed by other Magix software.

There is also a Magix Support page here which shows how to completely uninstall their video editing program, Movie Edit Pro. Although written for a different program, the principles outlined there are the same for you.

Hi

. . . . So I tried to activate MMM by creating an activation code but it comes up with a message saying "error no activation code could be created, . . .

You do not need to do this as it has already been done when you first installed the program and used it.

Assuming you are using Music Maker 2020 or 2021 - if not which version are you using?

On start up does the Create a New Project dialog appear?

If it does click the Magix Account option and try logging in to the Store - your activation should be recognised.

If you have the Plus or Premium version you can download and install all the Extra Content.

Check your Antivirus/Firewall is not blocking the program accessing the Internet or Folder Protection/Ransomware functions are not blocking the program if they are, you need to add Exceptions for the program..
