The best option for Dance Studios

Alycia wrote on 10/14/2021, 2:58 PM

I am trying to figure out which if these products to edit music would be the best option for me. I've previously purchased and used ACID 5.0-8.0 when Sony still owned it. I use the program to shorten, stretch, compress, edit out words, and blend tracks. I take pride in edits where the splices are completely undetectable, because a song should still tell a story. I don't make mixes, or create new music, but sometimes it would be nice to be able to replicate or learn how to make it where I can edit the voice out and keep the instrumental part playing, or to drop or lower pitch of just the voice so it will blend nicely with the edit. I don't know if I need to pony up and get ACID pro, or if I can get what I want using a different program. Could you guys help me out? Thank you!!

Oh, I'm running a 64 bit windows 10 Spectre.

@Alycia Over the last years new tools for automatically separating voices from music were released. I've got the best results with RipX DeepRemix. You can get a free demo here:

https://hitnmix.com/remix-software/

There are also free tools like SpleeterGUi that can do this, but you won't get results as good.

For editing audio files (up to eight tracks) you can use the free Samplitude Pro X4 Silver.

http://dl04.magix.net/2019/SamplitudeProX4Silver/Program/SamProX4_Silver_INT_200121_07-59.exe

It has a different workflow than ACID and maybe you don't want to learn something new because it's hard for everybody. But I really like the object oriented editing in Samplitude. You can split audio files easily into different snippets and move them around, add effects to each snippet individually, blend them, pitch them, timestretch them, reverse them, automate the audio and effects.

Of course, you can also just download the demo of the new ACID Pro or ACID Music Studio.

Hi

. . . . I'm running a 64 bit windows 10 Spectre . . . .

Do you mean Windows 10 Ghost Spectre (Superlite) - the cut down version of Windows 10, if so it is likely to be unsupported should you run into any issues with software and the OS.

Additionally you are opening up a can of worms with respect to Copyright and Performing/Play rights for use in a Dance Studio

It's a HP Spectre, and if my old hunk of junk can run acid 8, I'm sure my brand new laptop can run the new version. Not saying it's like, creme de la creme, but it WAS the best machine available.

Anyways, we pay for and belong to a copyright membership where we are allowed to use and modify songs. I get that you're trying to help, but I was asking for recommendations on useful software, not copyright liability.

Hi

. . . . It's a HP Spectre. . . .

Is this the x360 with Intel i5-1134G7 processor, 8GB RAM, 512GB SSD?

If so then as you say it should run Acid Pro 10 OK.

. . . belong to a copyright membership where we are allowed to use and modify songs . . . .

My apologies - there are many users who do not know about the issues associated with commercial use and copyright of songs etc.
