The Time Stretch function in Process tab in SF A/S 10 no longer opening on my PC on which I am running W8 which has been the case since I installed SF10. Can somebody please tell me how to get it back. BTW all the other functions under the Process tab are working just fine!! Help will be greatly appreciated. Peter

Does this behavior happen on all file types? (or just MP3s for instance).

I would try a repair install (reinstall w/o uninstall).

Hi rraud, thanks for your response. The problem occurs with both mp3 and WAV files. Unfortunately I no longer have the old SF10 download or any link to follow to try the 'repair install' option you suggest. Is there another option you can suggest? Thanks again, Peter

You can download SF-10 from the Magix Download Center. You will need your SF-10 serial number and most likely your original SCS log-in info.

Since SF is already installed, the serial code can be found in "Help> About SF".

Always save the serial codes, the original and any updated log-in parameters. FWIW, I like Password Safe which has an equally secure notes section for each entry.

Thank you - again! I followed your advice and did a repair install after downloading SF-10. Unfortunately it did not fix the problem and I have now discovered that the EQ function is not working either. Should I try an uninstall/reinstall now? You have probably realised by now that I am not very techsavvy, so please forgive my baby steps. FYI I have SF 12 available on another machine but I am still finding 10 easier to use, as someone who uses it only for basic voiceover and mixing work. Regards, Peter

I recommend uninstall / reinstall using a third-party uninstaller that can remove left-over registry entries and other pertinent data the default uninstall leaves behind, which in most cases is the root of a recurring behavior issue(s)..
Revo Uninstall and Geek Uninstall are two uninstallers that have pro and freeware versions.
I have been using Revo for 10+ years and the only problem I ever had was pilot error related.

Do you have SF Pro 12 or AS (Audio Studio)? In SF Pro 11 (and later pro versions) the record and plug-in chainer interface was changed (not for the better IMO). See my recent comment on the plug-in chainer here, and record instructions here.
I occasionally use Pro-10 in lieu of the later versions depending on the project,
I am not an SF Audio Studio user.

Just finished the uninstall/reinstall and the problem is resolved! BTW I downloaded your recommended REVO app but did not have to use it. In response to your question, I have SF 12 AS as well as SF 10 AS and find the latter more user-friendly, certainly for a very inexperienced user like me.

Once again - thank you for your support and best wishes. Peter

Hi rraud, back again and hoping you can help with another SF10 AS problem which occurred just this afternoon. I tried to open the program on my desktop PC and got the attached messages. So, I uninstalled and re-installed the program and got the same result. I tried to find a solution on the Magix website but went around in circles, Do Nagix not support Sound Forge any longer? Hope you can help. BTW the same program is installed on a laptop machine and no problems encountered (so far!!)

Regards,

Peter

Hello.

Try to use the right bottom of mouse, at the downloaded file, choice "run as administrator"

rraud wrote on 12/29/2020, 11:50 AM

The Elevated Privilege issue is a recurring behavior, with many Win updates. I have performed the registry tweak so many times, I no longer need a 'cheat sheet'. Use the 'Run as Admin' if you do not want to delve into the reg.

Peter-Cassidy wrote on 12/29/2020, 4:31 PM

Unfortunately, the first window that drops down does not give me the option to 'Run as Admin, it merely has the options of 'Next' or 'Cancel'.. By clicking on 'Next', the next window to drop down is the one shown in the 2nd pic. When I click 'Yes' in that window I get returned to my homescreen and still no access to the program! I am just running in a circle!!

Right-click the <*.exe> file.. or shortcut. Select "Properties> "Compatibility" .
Check-mark: "Run this program as an administrator",

Thank you, thank you! You have resolved an issue for me - once again. I hope you and yours enjoy a great 2021, and beyond. Best wishes
