van de 2015 versie op een mooi nieuwe laptop met nvida 1600 grafishe kaart
geweldig 30 minuten video in 30 minuten klaar. geweldig

Hi Eekle.

The problem with upgrading software is often it involves upgrading the hardware to match the newer demands of the software.

The 2015 version was not built to handle 8K video. A new program build will be made to be used on the latest hardware, from CPUs to drive speeds. Often if speed is important and you don't need a new function or have a new camera that requires newer software to handle the files then it is best to stick to the old software.

I am in a similar situation. The export speeds for me working at 4K is about 20% slower than using Movie Edit Pro 2021 but the playback is much smoother and it handles higher load projects more easily.

I think the main reason you may not be getting similar results is that the mobile version of your nvidia card does not have a video monitor output and therefore cannot be used together with the Intel® Iris® Xe Graphics of your CPU. You will probably only have one GPU enabled in the bios.

The graphics driver warning is false. I see it happen if I try to change the program settings before I load a project. Attempting to change project graphics settings with an open project on my machine will bring up that warning.

Never take advertising at face value. Nowhere on the pages giving information does it say it will be faster on any given system. Only that it is capable of being faster. Even the minimum requirements laid down only guarantees that the software will run. It does not say how well it will run.

This new version is also only a few weeks old and still has bugs in it. It may improve on some things in time. Then again the render times may not be looked at as it seems heavily component dependent as to what performance to expect. The latest graphics cards are at least four times more powerful than ours.

One last thing.

This is a user to user forum only. There is minimum contact with any Magix staff here so your topic is not likely to be seen by them.

Hello Eelke,

I did a little test for you with a movie project 1920x1080 50p approx. 15 min. The export time is approx. 3 min. I also see, that VDL 2022 uses the hardware acceleration with me. Do you have a HDD drive or an SSD drive?

My PC configuration is:

  • Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-9900K CPU @ 3.60GHz 3.60 GHz
  • Memory: 32GB
  • Video card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660Ti
  • SDD boot disk: Samsung SSD 970 EVO Plus 500GB

Kind regards
Rob

the software and os is on ssd disk
i did a test run of 3 minutes of video 4 tracks 2 moving video and 2 still pictures.
it takes 15 minutes by processor power but also on intel gpu (indication says 10h wile rendering) and on nvida it is the same 15 minutes but at the display it says 10 h
it is unacceptable slow

last software setting is just to show the setting options i have. if in use i put all at the same setting cpu or intel or nvida

Hi.

You don't mention whether the project is residing on your C: drive or not. Even an SSD (As opposed to an NVMe drive) may not be fast enough for that amount of data transfer,to run your operating system, the program and the project as SSDs can be fast for short bursts but can slow down a lot on larger constant feed data streams.

You also do not appear to have ticked 'Export only selected range' either.

We really need more information.

Hello Eelke,

I see, that the hardware acceleration is set as:

  • Import - CPU
  • Processing - Intel(R) UHD Graphics
  • Export - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650

When I set it this way, it also works slower for me. Please set the Import, Processing and Export all three to NVIDIA Geforce GTX 1650 and try again. My PC monitor is connected to the NVIDIA card

Best wishes,
Rob

Hi Eelke,

I did another test with a 15 min 4K (3840x2180) file, which is exported at my approx. 7 min.

Best wishes,

Hi Rob.

Each export for each project is not dependent on the length of the video itself but is more heavily dependent on how many tracks and what effects are applied to each clip. Using higher frame rates also has an effect on the export time as does which codec the files in the project are using.

I ran a 4K, 45 second project last night that took seventeen minutes.

To have valid comparisons you should run the test project that comes with the program. Then everyone can compare results. Not that the test project is that demanding. It needs updating to reflect most users expectations.
