Trouble with reactivation

TrooperTru wrote on 3/14/2020, 12:43 AM

Hello. For the past few days, I was unsuccessful in reactivating Movie Edit Pro 2015. The error message I keep getting is: An online connection could not be established. Please make sure your computer is correctly connected to the Internet. A firewall could also be blocking access. Now I have checked my firewall, and Movie Edit Pro 2015 is allowed all the way. And yet I am unable to reactivate my program. Is there some way to get it working again?

@TrooperTru

We need more information - without knowing your computer specification, see this topic for details of what is required, it is difficult to advise.

One thing you can check is that the Windows Internet protocols are all activated - see this comment.

Hi

Help us to help you by providing the information asked for - please read the topic I linked to again and provide all the computer information detailed there.

Did you check that the Internet protocols in the comment I linked to are all active?

. . . . Windows 10.. . . upgraded our computer from Windows . . . .

Are you using Windows Defender for your anti virus/firewall, if not what are you using?

Looking through old reviews online of your version of Movie Edit Pro 2015 the only thing I can find that may be causing you problems is if you have moved from a 32 bit operating system to the Win 10 64 bit system. That indicates there may be driver support issues between the old program and the hardware. You could try installing the program under compatibility mode to see if that helps but it may not.

Hi

. . . . OK, let's see if this helps... Windows 10, Build 10240 . . . .

It is a start, we still do not know about the Internet Protocols I asked you to check.

. . . . just recently upgraded our computer from Windows 7 . . . . Windows 10, Build 10240 . . . .

How recent was the upgrade?

Was it just before MEP 2015 would not activate?

Build 10240 is the first version of Windows 10 also known as Windows 10 1507 released in June 2015.

Windows 10 is now up to version 1903/1909 build 18362 and 18363 respectively so you are missing 7 or 8 updates which fix many issues.

Has Windows 10 prompted you to upgrade to later versions?

Additionally we need to know if Windows 10 is the 32 bit or 64 bit version - to find this:

  1. Click Start button, Settings
  2. In the window that opens select System, About .
  3. In the right pane under Device specifications, System type, you will see if you're running the 32-bit or 64-bit version of Windows 10.

Also, MEP2015 was available as 32bit as well as 64bit but I am not sure if it was the same download that just installed in either location. If your OS is 64bit then check it is installed in the 64bit Program files section of your C: drive.

I seem to be having similar issues with window 10, also on a 64-bit machine. Was this issue ever resolved?

When I try to activate and register SoundForge Pro I keep getting this message: The error message I keep getting is: An online connection could not be established. Please make sure your computer is correctly connected to the Internet. A firewall could also be blocking access.

When I try to RENDER a video in Sony Vegas, I get the same message: The error message I keep getting is: An online connection could not be established. Please make sure your computer is correctly connected to the Internet. A firewall could also be blocking access.

I have full internet connect. We have also checked the firewall.

Any tips in resolving this issue would be appreciated.

@Amanda-Bledsoe

Welcome to the Magix user to user forums.

Unfortunately, your post has nothing at all to do with the product that is the subject of this thread, Movie Edit Pro, although the symptoms appear the same. You have asked about Sound Forge Pro, whose product area is here and Vegas Pro which has a completely separate forum here. Please repost your questions, including full details of your computer, to the correct forum areas.

This thread will now be closed.
