Two version on my PC?

grahamm7 wrote on 7/16/2026, 10:22 AM

I have 2 versions of Magix Video: Magix Video Deluxe 2026 Plus AND Magix Video Deluxe 2026 Premium. This is because I updated to Premium. Plus I have two sets of templates. One for Plus and one for Premium. It is a mess! I feel like uninstalling all Magix Video stuff. And then just install the Premium version. But maybe it is meant to be installed like this. But as an ex IT network engineer I have messy software like this. I just put up with it from MS!! Thanks for any advice.

HI

I have the same on my laptop, 2 installs Pus and Premium, but only 1 set of templates etc in C:\Users\Public\Documents\MAGIX\Common\Videocontent\Movie Studio Platinum Content

The last time I had this scenario on my PC, to avoid issues I used Revo Uninstaller to remove both versions and cleanup left over files, settings etc, then reinstalled Premium and the templates anew.

Note: If you do not do a fulll re-install, ensure you have the Premium version activated, If you run the 'unregistered' Plus version you may be asked to re-activate using the Premium serial number.

Yep I worked that out - Used Revo Uninstaller - uninstalled this mess created by Magix. Even hacked the registry - i know we are not meant to do that. I then installed just the 2026 Premium. Then from within the editor installed all the templates/add ons. I find a lot of software on Windows doesn't un-install cleanly. They leave stuff behind everywhere. And when you do and update/install. Good to be told whether to install OVER or un-install and install the new version. Hey that's just the crazy world of software. MS is probably the worst in this area. Thanks for the reply.

HI

. . . . I find a lot of software on Windows doesn't un-install cleanly. They leave stuff behind everywhere. And when you do and update/install. . . .

Agreed, for that reason I use the paid for version of Revo Uninstaller Pro, it has the ablity to launch the installer and record everything that gets put on to the computer, and on first start file/folders/registry entries, etc and registration if needed. Uninstalling is a much easier operation leaving only any further items added after the install.

Also a long time Revo Pro user. One of the best software investments I've made.
