If MEP 2021 is your last paid for version then the basic version should be downloadable from your magix account. Just don't download any offered updates after installing.
Do make sure you deactivate your current copy first and remove all trace from the appropriate folders after uninstalling the program.
Please help us to help you, by supplying full computer specifications for both computers as detailed in this topic and please quote processor and graphics card make/model in full - I would suggest you put this information in your profile signature so we do not have to keep asking for it.
Are the graphics card drivers up to date?
A screen shot of the Program settings, Display options or Device options tab.
The amount of free space on the hard drive(s) you have.
Was there any error dialog that popped up when the crash occurred, if so what was the message?
Thanks for that but we are interested in the specs of both computers - are they identical - and what version of MEP is on the computer that is not crashing?
I'm not home at the time but I don't think it matters since I didn't update that one and I don't have an issue with it. I'll just go back to the previous version before this messed up update. Thanks
. . . . I'm not home at the time but I don't think it matters since I didn't update that one and I don't have an issue with it. . . .
On the contrary it does matter, if the 2 computers are not absolutely identical in their hardware specifications, Windows version and graphics drivers, there may be a subtle hardware or driver difference that is causing the issue.
All of us here are running the latest update of Movie Edit Pro 2022 are running it without crashes. If anything the update has improved things for most of us.
The most obvious reason for crashes on a system that should cope is not having the latest drivers for the graphics cards as John EB has suggested. For the nvidia card that would be the studio driver version 472.39 and for the Intel GPU it is version 30.0.101.1069
It looks like you are running the game ready nvidia drivers as opposed to the studio drivers. Not sure if that would make a difference or not as I have never run Game Ready drivers.
I can verify the 2060 and 1650 appear to have different released drivers. I wonder if this is for the developers of the new 2060 cards benefit as they must be manufacturing them now ready for an early January release. Would enable testing as they have added ram modules.
. . . . I've got an RTX2060 which I see you have as well. . . . .
The drivers you linked to, and you presumably are using, are the Game Ready Drivers (GRD) v497.09 which are on a more rapid update cycle as issues with games arise.
As Ray and I do not game, we are using the Studio drivers which have a slower update cycle, and are designed for 'creative work' such as video editing, image creation and graphics work..
For the RTX 2060 they are version 472.75, for the GTX 1650 Super, which I was referring to but probably was not clear 😕, they are 472.47.
