I am using Movie Edit Pro Premium 2017 and until a few days ago I was able to capture images, videos with the Recording function. This has stopped and now I am unable to do it. There is this sign that says, "device is not currently supported," and could not connect to this device." In the Spanish forum they tell me it is a Windows problem with Stereo mix, but this is only sound, right? How about videos and images?

 

@joserobles1941 Hi, the formats you see are containers holding the sound & the video, so if there's a problem with one, sound or video the whole container won't load,

I very much doubt that that has anything to do with the problem. @joserobles1941 can no longer capture. There has been no mention of any inability to import MP4s.

@AAProds I mentioned MP4 as an example for 'Windows problem with Stereo mix, but this is only sound, right? How about videos and images?'

When you capture video & Audio from a device does it come into the program/system as 1 single package or is it brought in as 2 separate streams & then put together within the program?

I mostly do screen capture like YT and use Video option. I do no use any device at all.

@joserobles1941 Ok, screen capture i believe you need to click recording levels & choose Stereo Mix, or at the top choose no sound

I haven't used Magix to record the screen on this PC & despite lots of Google searching i can't get Stereo Mix to show, twice now just going through the options it's crashed my PC, which is rare, i think i've crashed this machine a half dozen times, maybe AMD vs Intel Nvidia card thing, i dunno 🤔🤷‍♂️🙃

What CPU GPU do you have? you go to your icon at the top, click it - My Profile, & fill in your Signature with your Magix version, Windows version & system specs, CPU, GPU, RAM etc. this will then show at the bottom of the comments & will help 👍

Hi Gid.

To get to stereo mix and other sound device settings, go to the task bar and right click the speaker icon.

Select Open Sound Settings.

On the right hand side list, click on Sound control Panel.

Open the Recording tab. Stereo mix should be there but disabled.

Click on the Stereo Mix icon to configure. You can use the Properties box to do that.

Avoid configuring anything that doesn't start with the word Realtek.

Disable all effects and make sure it is configured to output to Speakers (Realtek(R) Audio).

@CubeAce Nope, that's where i went first, or one of the first places & it was one of the options in the Google search, I've updated audio drivers, in Settings Privacy Allow, everything is switched on, Right click in Recording tab - Show Disabled Devices, ... I would like to know why but I don't mind, i use Geforce Alt+F9 to record the screen 👍

I have no problems at my end and my system is set up as described above in my last comments for the latest version of MEP. I just did this test.

It is using the Realtek Stereo Mix input connected to the Realtek loudspeaker output.

Perhaps I should add that Windows sometimes sets the audio sampling rates to the highest available for whichever Realtek chip is on the motherboard and that can disable some inputs and make them unavailable.

It is best to have a look at the motherboard manual to see if such limitations are in place. 24 bit 48kHz should be sufficient for all inputs and outputs for most Realtek chips and prevent this if you don't have a manual to hand but do check all the active inputs and outputs.

Something is wrong.

The Realtek chip should not be showing up outputs or inputs as USB devices.

Ray, great! On the Listen tab, I had "playback through this device" set to default. I put it on Speakers as per your screenshot and wala! Stereo Mix works! Thanks a lot.
