Unable to install MPEG-4 Codec -Movie Edit Pro Premium 2017

john-owens wrote on 7/3/2017, 7:06 PM

I paid for the MPEG-4 Codec a few days ago and activated it but when I try and install it from the' install extra content' section all I get is a pop up saying "An error occurred downloading the package. Please try again later." The program then hangs with a rotating screen saying "Please wait a moment". I've sent a ticket to support but have no answer yet. Has anyone got any idea how to fix this problem? - Windows 7 64bit sp1, Nvidia GTX-750, 16GB RAM, Intel I7 3400. Thanks

I still have this same issue and am getting really frustrated. I've disabled the antivirus and firewall, reinstalled MEP 2017 Premium (twice!), reset the winsock, tried using ethernet instead of wireless and still no success. I keep my system very clean because I also use it for audio recording with Presonus Studio One. Is there somewhere I can get the MPEG4 codec and install it manually rather than within MEP or is there an alternative codec. I just can't understand why this download won't work. I've had no issues with any other installations within MEP 2017.
Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks.

Yes I've had response from support and some of the above were their suggestions. The problem is that it takes about 2 days to get a response each time I reply to them and I can't do it by phone because i live in Australia. I'm hoping to find a way to fix this problem by using forums to speed this process up. I've had the program over a week now but I can't use it for many of the video I want to edit until I can get this codec installed.

Try starting MEPP (MEP 2017) by right-clicking its icon or menu entry and choosing 'Run as administrator', then try the download again.

Thanks for your help terrypin. I decided to set up a fresh Windows 7 installation on a spare 1TB hard drive. It all works perfectly now, I just have a dual boot system now Obviously something was interfering with the codec installation but I guess I'll never know the cause.
