Upgrading from MEP Premium (20.0.1.73) to....

Zaza_from_Johor wrote on 2/1/2022, 9:37 AM

It is time to upgrade! I am not too sure of my next move and would like to have your opinion.

Overall, I am quite satisfied with the application by itself and for the use I make of it (short videos for Instagram). However, I have always been disappointed by the transitions that look very basic and "primitive" compared to what Adobe and its third parties offer (more fancy and dynamic).

Looking forward to hear from you all.

Hi,

You have MEP 2021. See the Magix.com site for what's new in MEP2022 Premium.

There are no new transitions but you can purchase some through the Store.

I have always been disappointed by the transitions that look very basic and "primitive" compared to what Adobe and its third parties offer (more fancy and dynamic).

Are you sure about the other transitions being more fancy and dynamic? I don't think so. I think that you are either missing some or have not explored them properly. There was a guy on here a year or so ago wishing to see more transitions and he gave examples of:

  1. A tutorial that showed whip transitions and he wanted that. However, those are done while shooting and just joined with a simple cross-fade in the editor. There are other types of great transitions that are made by setting them up during shooting and just basic editing on the timeline.
  2. A tutorial about creating transitions in Adobe; he thought that these were great. This was really sad. The guy showed how to create a few of the most simple basic transitions that we have as standard in MEP and we have more adjustment capability.
  3. A third party selling a pack of really nice dynamic and fancy transitions for Final Cut Pro and he said that Magix should include these. Well, they aren't even in Final Cut Pro. On watching the video of the transitions a second time, I had a good laugh. Most were transitions that we already had with MEP.

So, why do these other transitions always look so great - more fancy and dynamic? Simple. They speed up the transition, add in some fast beat music and some whooshes (Sound Fx), and use stunning images and video clips that really make the transition look good. You can use the same transition but without the music and whooshes and stunning images and it doesn't look the same.

I suggest that you watch my tutorial on Transitions - Part 2 which is about the template transitions (and also watch part 1).

If you just want more transitions, I suggest that you try out Pixelan SpiceMaster Pro and maybe some of the other ones. I have them all and I did some tutorials on SpiceMaster but with an older version. You can install them and you'll just get an X across the screen, but you can see what they do. Watch the demos - fancy and dynamic?

Hi,

Further to the above, the Upgrade to MEP2022 Premium includes VitaScene v4 LE if your looking for more dynamic, organic and flowing transitions, and Cinematic Moods - Remastered + Cinematic Effects, and only in Premium, NewBlue Stylizers 5 Illuminate with around 100 templates for atmospheric light effects.
Sounds like a good deal to me.

Cinematic Moods contains 25 hand-picked compositions in the style of great Hollywood composers, as well as piano pieces à la George Winston and Ludovico Einaudi. All songs have been digitally remastered in breathtaking 24-bit audio quality.

Cinematic Effects includes 100 individual files from the collections Nature FX, Musical FX, Business FX, Wooshes & Swooshes,

I'm going to go out on a limb here and state that Cinematic Moods and Cinematic Effects come with the Commercial License as Magix lists the value at 59.90 USD. They are selling the non-commercial version of each for 9.99 USD, Standard Commercial License for 29.99 USD. If you get this, take and keep screen shots of the value indicated by Magix and the prices for Non-commercial and Standard Commercial. You can check out what comes with the package in the Store in MEP. Each element is listed for preview.
